#2 submitted last night but it is not up yet. Probably one of those 6AM deals. Have to wait and see.

Group sex readers (or maybe just my readers) don't seem to comment much. I just got my third comment - after 48,000 views!

I have one comment within 18.3K views. My story did garner someone clicking on the author feedback for the first time, so I also got a private (positive) comment in e-mail over the weekend.

Regarding the whole numbers game, I created a spreadsheet using formulas from this article:

https://www.literotica.com/s/how-to-analyze-your-scores

If anyone is interested in my spreadsheet with these formulas entered, I can share it. I am considering writing a custom program to handle this better as the spreadsheet is somewhat cumbersome.

Nice work.

Here's an old numbers post i did a while back also, mostly a way of saying that by the time you reach about 100 to 200 votes, one bombs become almost unnoticeable. But when you only have one vote, it seems like the end of the world. So patience, grasshopper. :)

This is probably not the place for it, but I think you're slightly wrong in your second paragraph. I'm pretty sure literotica uses a "floor" function when it rounds off to two decimal points. So 4.17526…. becomes 4.17. Not that it matter much, but just to be accurate :)

Uh. Not my article. Just one that I read.... It is entirely possible the author of it got it wrong. :)

The place for it might be on the Tech forum. I know the site uses truncated (floor) numbers for some things. Have you talked to Manu about it?

My process assumes normal rounding, and I check for consistency by back-calculating the score from my results. That works. I expect that if my process were inconsistent with theirs then I'd see the difference in my back check, but I don't.

Would floor rounding mean that a story with 10,000 5-votes and 1 4-vote would round 4.99999 down to 4.99 and once anything other than a 5-vote came in it would never be possible to have the score return to 5.00?

Yes, but for normal numbers of votes that would probably be true for normal rounding, too.

I made a quick test with my spreadsheet, and I didn't see that the difference between truncating the score and rounding the score makes much difference.

Seems inconsistent that a story with 10,000 5-votes and 1 4-vote would round 4.99999 down to 4.99, but a story with 10,000 1-votes and 1 2-vote would round to 1.00.

Obviously, these are extreme examples.

Seeing as it is the end of the month, we should see a pretty good sweep tonight or in the morning. Of course, the trolls will back hard at it almost immediately.

What do you all find most useful in gauging the success of your stories? Aside from simply looking at the current rating or the total number of favorites, perhaps.

For example, when you want to compare a story that's a year old to one that's a month or two old, there's obviously going to be fewer favorites on the newer one, but it might have a better score for favorite-per-views ratio. Does the story score already pretty closely align to what you can learn from favorite rate?

Admittedly I haven't put too much thought yet into analyzing the numbers, though I've made some observations about the complications with trying to deduce 1-bombs, etc. that have been stated here. I guess I'm trying to settle on what my strategy should be for the best analysis at a glance without going overboard.

Simple. Do you still like your story when you read it again a month, a year or years later?

If so? It's good.

Anything else is subjective and there are too many variables for analysis to make any sense.

Good answer!

I randomly started reading in the middle of my 2-year old Nudity Is For The Birds last night. And I was impressed and delighted by my own dialogue. It inspired me. And I found three typos.

Though I do set different goals for each story. I will not mention here my specific goal for my current entry until the contest ends (it was not to win the contest, though that's always a nice plus).

Is that a thing, that sweeps usually happen at the end of the month? By recent bombs are still in effect at least...

Yes, they need to clean things up for the monthly awards so we in the contest reap some of the rewards.

Well, I found your current entry "inspiring" I'm writing some stories for a sex toys website and anything involving toys is very helpful for me. And the toys! Omg. My horizons continue to be expanded by Literotica. I'm not even sure what you do with some of them but I'm writing them in and going "wow". So thank you My Inspiration

Ha, yeah. It's true, and I am (mostly) satisfied with what I've submitted so far. I guess I'm just partly writing for my own goals, and partly curious about what's working best for readers, because there's definite enjoyment in seeing their pleasure too. I'm finding my scores tend to be relatively flat across the board, whereas other metrics vary a bit more. But I'm beginning to really understand that there's just too many factors involved, including the fact that # of comments can just be the result of which category the story is in. -- My own contest goal is always simply to increase follows and build a reader base.

I haven't noticed any changes yet, but I think yesterday's site maintenance may have put Laurel a little behind. The Audio stories usually go up on Thursday and they didn't get posted until this morning.

Always delighted to be inspiration to another writer. Or reader. Though sometimes readers private communications reveal a little too much about how they were inspired.

Five days left. Doing my bleary eyed alligator impersonation (dragging ass). But, haven't given up yet! Is today the day I manage to get done and submitted? We shall see.

Lol. No joking, you should see one or two of the photos I've been sent. I think they mistook me for xhamster or something

Still working on my second story on this huge extended sex scene. 54k words and still lots of sex to write. Omg. Poor Sammi. Or lucky Sammi. But I've got the ending all wrapped up. And the start. This one is going to be down to the wire. Puckit - race you to the finish. I have the eye drops for those bleary eyes.

My first real gangbang story! Is this Group Sex? Its definitely First Time as well. Decisions decisions.
