What have you cooked today?

The kitchen used to be my favorite place in the house when I was growing up and then had kids of my own to feed. Living alone so long now, I've lost the inspiration for having a home with the kitchen as the center piece of good times and good food at the beginning and ending of every day.

Yesterday I made pizza. One for them and one for me, since I was low on pepperoni. So I piled on mine cheese, artichokes, garlic and basil. Yum!

pancakes and bacon for dinner
nice glass of cold milk

i had a bowl of raisin bran for supper. not because i'm lazy, but because i really wanna take a shit at some point.

I made pork chops the other day..

I found a recipe for stuffed biscuts and gravy. I think ill try that sometime this week

Made homemade cheddar garlic bread today (the house smelled wonderful as it baked).

For dinner, to go with the bread was a chicken/rice casserole with onions and broccoli as the side. Smelled so good in the house today!!

Tonight, I dared to go clean out the food cabinet and fridge. It was not pretty. I managed to salvage stuff I forgot I had. Fuck, I waste a lot of money on food I never eat. I realized I could actually cook some of the stuff with expiration dates.

Tonight I am creating some sort of potluck soup. I'm waiting to see how the rice turns out before I add it to the mix.

My potluck soup tonight has green beans, carrots, field peas, snaps, ground beef w/garlic, onions, rice, and asparagus. A touch of salt and pepper.

I make a mean lasagna. Maybe ill make one next weekend. It takes all day but its fuckin worth it. The missus made some amazing chicken and dumplings tonight

it wasn't fancy, but i fried up some great sausage and mixed it with rice, mushrooms, and tomatoes. simple and wonderful for a cold, rainy day!

I finally figured out how to make no fail deep fried cod. I've been trying to make it too difficult with spices and beer batter and such. Eggs, flour, water, baking powder, salt, pepper. Mix, dredge, fryin 350 degree peanut oil, eat.

Seared scallops w/blackened tilapia, with a side of sauteed asparagus...homemade french bread on the side...

Baked Italian fish salad. It's a thing, I made it up.

Basil, olives, garlic, and random vegetables (broccoli and tomatoes this time) chopped up in a olive oil coated pan. Pour balsamic vinegar, more olive oil, black pepper, oregano and salt on top. Add pieces of fish. Cover in a crapton of parmessan. Sprinkle with pine seeds. Torture in the oven til it looks nice. Eat. Try not to breathe on people.
