The Winter Holiday Contest Support Thread

You all missed this from Laurel post to the "Goodbye to 2009" thread at the top of the forum?

I'm working on vote tallying now, but I won't be done until tonight. Thanks for your patience, and good luck to everyone!

Maybe so, but I just now copied this from the home page:

12/15 - The Literotica Winter Holidays Erotic Story Contest is now closed to new submissions, but you can still read and vote on all the fun, sexy holiday tales!

Right not, it is twenty minutes after midnight on Dec. 15, EST.

I think that was brought up before -- the homepage updates. I just happened to read her post on the contest thread saying it would be 'tonight', dated the 14th. Didn't matter much to me either way, I guess. :)

I've been dreading the arrival of the broom...

Here’s the time line for the RATING, COMMENTS, VOTES and VIEWS for my contest entry. It was put up on LITEROTICA the morning of Dec 9th and I checked the totals every 24 hours thereafter.

I hate to arouse the wrath of the GODS but there is little evidence of any major sweep having occurred (although a small mini sweep – 10 or 20 votes – might be hidden in the fairly large numbers). Thank you LAUREL! :cattail:

I've always hated to see the slaughter of these poor, defenseless little contest votes and can only hope that no more will be sacrificed...

Dec 10th 4.58 27 623 49,693
Dec 11th 4.59 39 767 61,993
Dec 12th 4.60 41 802 65,441
Dec 13th 4.60 42 842 69,445
Dec 14th 4.59 43 868 72,461
Dec 15th 4.61 44 878 75,005

Congratulations to the winners! :)

I'm in the running for last with a score of 3.94. Lost 10 votes in a sweep, and my score actually raised a bit.

A score improving like that from a sweep is the norm. Some vindictive votes of "1" are recognized and eliminated. Good votes are also sometimes swept away, but there are more bad ones than good ones that get eliminated.

3.94 is probably not going to compete for last place. (tm)

Congratulations!

Congratulations winners:rose::rose::rose:,

It's been a fun contest.
I for one ended up about where I thought I would - not in the top three, not in 'Last Place(tm)'.

Even though I wasn't in the money, I know I gained some valuable insights in the processes. Those insights are actually more valuable to me than the prize money could ever be.

I was done posting to the thread but I had to come back and give a special Congrats! to Mistress Lynn. I was so happy to see her win,
Here's the final results copied for the contest winners page.

Congrats to all three winners.

Manu and I would like to thank all the authors who submitted during this contest - and all of our other contests, for that matter! We've tallied the reader's votes, and are happy to announce the winners of our first annual Winter Holiday story contest.

First Place ($150 Cash Prize Winner):
Maggie's Gift by MistressLynn

Second Place ($100 Cash Prize Winner):
The Locket by SexyBetelgeuse

Third Place ($75 Cash Prize Winner):
For the Love of Holly by wantsomefun1951

Submission dates for 2010 special contests will be posted soon.

Thanks again to everyone who voted, submitted, or was involved in Literotica in any way. You are all awesome!

Thanks everyone. :rose:

Congrats to the other winners, and to all who entered.

Congratulatons to the winners and to all those who entered. :)

Same to you Box! Took a freakin week to make that correction you pointed out. But, I'm glad that I fixed it. Duh. If you ever read another one of my stories, please begin it knowing that I can't spell. I suck.

Merry Christmas, and happy all the other holidays that I can't spell, too. Kwanza, Chanakah, Thanksgiving was in there, too, but not the Canadian Thanksgiving and not real sure about all the other countries, either.

Find a lover and some mistletoe and have at it, everyone.

Last Place (tm) Contest?

Last Place Contest

Rules for Last Place contest.
****

Order for coming last:

Lowest voted rating for a genuine attempt at a story multiplied by number of votes if less than 25 divided by 25.

So - if rating is 3.00 but only 12 votes the score would be

3.00 x 12 / 25 = 1.44

If rating is 3.00 but more than 25 votes, the rating stays the same.

I suggest ignoring number of reads except as a tie breaker when least number of reads would *win*.
****

Since the 'winner' actually wins nothing, it is pointless to cheat. To enter, all you have to do is declare your rating and votes at the time the real contest is decided.
Participation is entirely voluntary.

Og is banned from entry for life because he finds coming last too easy and is a past multiple winner of last places.

For the last place contest, 1 votes are very valuable and 5s are bombs.

Og (whose decision is final unless you all gang up on me)

Yes congratulations to all the winners and thank you to everyone here that read and/or commented on my story! 2010 is gonna be a great year!

Any declarations for the Last Place (tm) Contest?

Og

I didn't write down my score on the last day, but this is what it is today, which is close to the final day score: 4.17 121 16,481
I keep hovering right around that four-star mark. For a newbie, I'm pleased and appreciate every vote.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

:heart::heart:My score was 3.46. Did I win anything?:heart::heart:

This is the lowest declared score so far. Any other contenders for Last Place?

I won't be updating for a couple of days. I'm off in a few minutes to celebrate friends' 40th wedding anniversary. I'll be away until tomorrow evening.

(When they got married the reception party lasted three days. I don't think this one will run quite as long...)

Was Mia the final winner of the Last Place Award?
