I agree, blank profiles should not be allowed. I get that people want to be discreet, but they should at least have to have age, height and weight. The blank profiles are running the sites.

The pic thing has gotten really annoying, and it's not just blank profiles.
I get guys all the time who have an actual profile, but the first message they send is "pics?"
That's an instant block for me.
I know that attraction is part of hooking up, but start out with something else, and send a fucking pic before asking for one.
And, if someone sends you a pic, say something. Don't just ghost them, block them, or say "got anymore?"
Put in a little effort, get then inserted in you, and they will probably send you more.

Why should I have to put in very private information like age, height and weight just to be able to chat with someone? I also don't want to encourage filtering based on those criteria.

It would make more sense to require some information about why we are on the site and what we are looking for

It's not ok for someone who won't even share their age to be asking others for very private pictures.
Maybe you aren't on gay sites, but it has gotten out of hand. Over half of the profiles that message me are totally blank, and they usually want pics.
Height, age and weight isn't "very private information."
But ok, I'd be fine with someone sharing what they are looking for. But these don't even have that. They are just blank.
This would also limit bots.
I'm fine with people not sharing such information on sites like this.
But those sites are hookup sites. People are actually trying to meet other people. Most people won't meet someone if they don't at least know their age. I don't even understand why someone would be on a hookup site, without stats.

It's about people who have totally anonymous profiles asking others for personal pictures.
And again, these aren't chat rooms or forums. These are places where others are actually wanting to meet someone.
Most of us aren't meeting someone without at least some basic information. I wouldn't want to meet up with an 18 year old, personally.

But if you're on something like Gridr, you should at least have basic stats, and maybe describe what you are looking for.

A lot of what he says is true of the dating sites as well. My gf used to have problems with guys not reading her profile on Tinder.

I get what you mean - and I don't like seeing empty profiles either. I just think there should be full freedom of what people put in those profiles. No need to be stuck in the old a/s/l days

But isn't this a self-regulating problem anyway? People without profiles get less hits and interactions, making them less likely to stay on the app. No need to force everyone to fill in specific details.
