My father has his faults, but would anyone harm his girls he'd forget about his own safety... He has said as much.

I'm not telling my parents that my husband had been cheating on me. If they knew how our relationship was, my dad couldn't resist saying "told you so" (about tying myself in there by buying that damn house.)

Most days, I don't even think about it anymore. I have been far luckier than I ever expected to be in life, and the good stuff does surpass the bad shit. But there are those days the bad shit, no matter how old, pulls me down into how I used to feel and who I used to be. It's a life long struggle, or has been so far, and I don't expect it to change.

I hope all of the ladies know that (I think) everyone in this group is giving you big hugs of support no matter what it is you're struggling with. It might not be much compared to RL, but you're not alone. (That feels so cliche and sappy now that I'm rereading it. Sorry! It's still true, though.)

I see the "wow" emoji responses. That's how I felt. I mean, she was asking about fairly mild things, but with my father. That's a line.

Anyway, after his heart attack, they were spending a lot more time doing things together because he wasn't gone to work all the time. Neither of them were very experienced when they got together (I could have gone all my life without knowing that, but now I do ), so she had questions about... Stuff... new stuff to them.

It is quite sweet to see, and I enjoy teasing him about it. I don’t have any brothers, so Deacon is the son she never had. And he will deny it, but he loves the attention. He grew up in a military family. I think the word for his mom is stoic. The thing about his family is that women are treasured, treated with respect and dignity, loved passionately, honored and encouraged, defended to the ends of the earth. I guess if Ernie tries to cause problems I’ve three men to protect me.

Oh just the same here. Just NO. Nor my oldest sister, she's very religious. (Not conservative in most ways, but prude sexually.)

My other sister probably wouldn't be shocked... She might check that I'm responsible and that's all. (She's a judge in higher court and has even researched stuff like how to judge things if S/m goes too far or if it's nonconsensual etc. But what she's not is prude... I wouldn't be surprised if I found out she's into bdsm, too.)

I had the weird situation that my late husband was not a good partner, and not worth a wife at all really. But I have to give him that he would have defended me with his life if needed - literally, being a retired soldier and peacekeeper. Or perhaps even women in general.
Just... In my life I don't really need that, but emotional safety and support is so needed.

I do not have that problem with my mom. She thinks my Hubby is cute but too thin. Now, my FIL is a different story. He's not burly like my dad, but he's not slender like my Hubby. I've seen my mother flirt with him. It's just a little, and she'd deny it, but I know what I've seen.
