750 Word Project 2025 - Picture Prompts

Just a drive by…

I’m posting this with @Duleigh’s blessing (and will add this text to his thread as well).

For last year’s 750 Word Project, I set two picture prompt challenges, which led to the publishing of twenty-three (I think) micro-stories. The writers involved seemed to enjoy it, so I’m doing something similar again this year.

I agreed with @AH_Mod not to clutter up the forums with AI-generated images (and would ask you to do the same). So the image prompts are on my blog. I’ll post just the URL, so you know you aren’t being sent to some nefarious site (well it might be nefarious - just not in that way):

There are four image prompts this year:

1. Lingerie saleswoman
2. Business meeting
3. Diving instructor
4. Yoga class

All the images are fully clothed and SFW.

Instructions on how to tag your story appear in the blog article. It’s not complicated.

The idea is to write whatever the image of choice suggests to you. There are no constraints, so long as your 750 word story is vaguely related to one of the images.

I hope some of you will have fun with this.

Would it still count as getting inspired by the prompt if I write a story involving skillful manipulation of a hard stick because I misread #3 as "driving instructor"?

Muffs don't require breathing apparatus, so probably easier to describe...

I know, I just wanted to tease Wanda.
It's a show based on League of Legends, a game I played a long time ago so I watched the first season. The show is okay although I'd say it's somewhat overrated and clearly meant primarily for the YA audience. I'll be fair and say that considering the quality of what came out of Hollywood in the past decade, this show is definitely one of the better ones.

What if the diving instructor wasn’t your ‘normal’ diving instructor. You’ve written about angels and demons, why stop there. Surely you’ve heard the Sirens song a time or two.
Or perhaps it’s a two dive trip. That recovery time on the beach between dives can get boring.

Cold. The nasty fucker jelly fish are much further north, off the coast of Queensland, which is mostly in the tropics - where the ocean is always much warmer.

But the shine on the whole 750 word thing has kinda worn off for me.

Oh I enjoy reading them. And occasionally writing one IF I have a solid enough idea to fit the format.

Again my usual complaint about 750 word stories is too many of them read like the beginning to what should be a much longer tale.

And while we writers enjoy the challenge, I think readers are, at best, mixed on them.
