This is very true. I suppose it comes down to the psychology behind it. Then trying to harness that in words. But there are certain things in visual pornography that I think are 'sexy' because of their prevalence in the medium and nothing else. Maybe knee socks were unsexy before on maverick pornographer made the Citizen Kane of hosiery smut.

It's kind of hard to write just about knee socks; usually they work as part of a larger story. A woman wearing knee socks is usually going for a "young" look while garters and straps are for a more sophisticated mature lady appearance. Sometimes it can be the same woman depending on the mood she's in.

Thigh-high woolen stockings are sort of in the middle, suggesting a college student/early twenties look.

Cop outfits are not as interesting as real cops running amuck. There are some real-life examples. The Dead Kennedy's "Police Truck" is a fictionalized version of such incidents.

Boots: that is another whole topic.

P.S.: I have a story where a twenty-two-year-old woman gets out her old Catholic schoolgirl uniform, knee socks and all, for an encounter.

First of all, it's summer, so there will inevitably be fewer boot so be seen. Winter is still pretty good for them, if I remember last winter correctly.

Your examples are fine, but the problem is that it becomes redundant to keep using the character's names. My point was not that you can't do it, but that because it has a higher degree of difficulty, that might deter some author's from including such scenes.

There are some TV storylines where toys are really miniaturized people who have their own lives. In some cases they can 'grow' to people size, then return to toy size.

You're right about the incest with more than one son/brother. I think that ties in with the romance element that is the subject of another contemporaneous thread. Most readers want the incestuous relationship to be exclusive. But there's definitely a place for stories where two brothers get it on with mom, or with their sister.

I've had a thing in my head for a while where the two sisters of triplets want a third sister instead of the brother they have.

Have never been able to do much with it though.

Having been a Lit reader for a very long time, I'm always surprised when I come across a kink or fetish that's under-represented or even non-existent. There may be stories that touch on these topics, but they never really go all out.

Interestingly, some other kinks are super popular. For example, yesterday I wanted to find out more about smoking fetishes for a story I'm writing and I found dozens that make it their central focus.

I'm not good at writing fast or writing two things at once, otherwise I'd take a few of these on, but here are a couple I've noticed are under-represented, in my opinion:

• MMMF stories (where things get airtight, if ya know what I mean )
• Incest stories with more than one son or brother
• Non-kinky pegging stories
• 'New' fetishes that sprang from the internet like 'cuckqueaning', 'findom', 'bimbofication', 'snowballing' and 'gooning' (even 'Japanese Kissing' is now a popular kink of the Reddit-browsing masses and lactation is also attracting a bigger audience)
• 'Old' fetishes like knee-socks and sexy cops and everything else that defined the golden age of pornography (very few nun stories on Lit, for example)
• Lesbian stories that don't involve a sub/dom dynamic

I'm sure there's more, but these are a few I've spotted over the years. Are there any themes you've struggled to find in stories? Perhaps something you've noticed before and wanted to write a story on but never got the chance?

It's a pain in other places to pull off physically. I have every respect for the athletic ability of porn performers. Those doing an airtight mmfm...! Even mfm is difficult physically. The reality is unless you have three people that are complementary in physical terms it doesn't feel great when muscles are straining. I don't write it because it's like hot tub or in the water sex. It doesn't work all that well.

As I mentioned, socks have a more informal look about them, or are more associated with school, while nylon stockings are more appropriate for workplaces. I don't see it quite as a fetish, more like being interested in what the other person is wearing.

There is a porn trope of having girls in white knee-socks and incredibly short plaid skirts. It's sort of a parody of what girls really wear. There must be a garment factory somewhere (probably in China!) that makes such skirts for the porn industry.

There is another porn trope of having knee socks with black high-heeled shoes, which probably is rarely done in the real world.

I've heard stories that oral sex among teens is more common now - but compared to when? The 1970s? The 1940s? It's hard to know for sure, because it's based on self-reporting and people like to maintain their privacy.

I heard one well-known person - I think it was Gore Vidal - who claimed that gay sex among teen males was common when he grew up, and then they gave it up as they gained access to women.

Writing stories set in the past when knee socks were more common they come up in quite a few of my works. In my stories set in the 1950s, the female characters are often referenced as wearing bobby socks. In my story 'Sexy Savannah From Number 9' the titular character Savannah is shown wearing black knee-length boots with a blouse and mini-skirt, but she does remove the boots and has bare feet when she has sex.

One item of clothing I have rarely seen female characters wearing is overalls. I thought these would be more popular in tomboy stories. For example Sally from my story 'Sally and the Sailor' set during World War 2 is a tomboy and is wearing knee-length overalls and is barefoot when she has sex with the neighbour's son who has joined the navy.

Some sexual fetishes and trends do come and go. While not a fetish per se, erotic fiction stories involving vampires and werewolves were very popular from circa 2007-2012, but a decade later the market for these has dried up and they are very rarely seen now.
