Having been a Lit reader for a very long time, I'm always surprised when I come across a kink or fetish that's under-represented or even non-existent. There may be stories that touch on these topics, but they never really go all out.

Interestingly, some other kinks are super popular. For example, yesterday I wanted to find out more about smoking fetishes for a story I'm writing and I found dozens that make it their central focus.

I'm not good at writing fast or writing two things at once, otherwise I'd take a few of these on, but here are a couple I've noticed are under-represented, in my opinion:

  • MMMF stories (where things get airtight, if ya know what I mean ;))
  • Incest stories with more than one son or brother
  • Non-kinky pegging stories
  • 'New' fetishes that sprang from the internet like 'cuckqueaning', 'findom', 'bimbofication', 'snowballing' and 'gooning' (even 'Japanese Kissing' is now a popular kink of the Reddit-browsing masses and lactation is also attracting a bigger audience)
  • 'Old' fetishes like knee-socks and sexy cops and everything else that defined the golden age of pornography (very few nun stories on Lit, for example)
  • Lesbian stories that don't involve a sub/dom dynamic

I'm sure there's more, but these are a few I've spotted over the years. Are there any themes you've struggled to find in stories? Perhaps something you've noticed before and wanted to write a story on but never got the chance?

I have a few smoking fetish stories if you are interested.

'The Third Time' and my two part 'Tonight I Shall...' story has it as a central theme and it features in quite a few others.

Interesting subject. I enjoy fetishy stories and am often looking for something new and unusual. That's why I wrote the Hucow story, and I'm currently working on a story that involves a toy bear.

You're right about the incest with more than one son/brother. I think that ties in with the romance element that is the subject of another contemporaneous thread. Most readers want the incestuous relationship to be exclusive. But there's definitely a place for stories where two brothers get it on with mom, or with their sister.

Some of these topics, like knee socks and cop outfits, probably work better in visual porn than in stories. I wouldn't know how to write a story about knee socks.

Bimbofication (var. Bimbification, bimboification) are quite popular on Lit. It's difficult to make it interesting in longer stories, however.

I think the older porn tropes tend to be more visual, and don't have the same impact here.

This is very true. I suppose it comes down to the psychology behind it. Then trying to harness that in words. But there are certain things in visual pornography that I think are 'sexy' because of their prevalence in the medium and nothing else. Maybe knee socks were unsexy before on maverick pornographer made the Citizen Kane of hosiery smut.

For fucks sake Simon, it's bloody obvious! Bears get cold legs too. I cannot believe you've let such an opportunity go by! This is so disappointing.

Suzy glanced over. "If you do anything to harm my bear, bro, you are toast. Seriously. Don't harm the bear."

EB pondered this a moment longer. "Didn't Spielberg do the bear already, in AI? You know, the Kubrick script?"

Mamy of my stories are fetish, and some with the very rare fetish unbirth.

Interesting list.

Any sex scene with multiple participants is a pain in the ass to write, that may be a limiting factor.

I think with multiple male partners there’s (from my side) a tendency to self-censor so that I don’t 'offend' heterosexual male readers, who tend to make up the majority here.

Actually, I just thought about another weirdly over-represented subject. Way back, there was an episode of Oprah or Dr Phil or some such that advanced this theory about something called lipstick/rainbow parties where America’s impressionable youth get together and put on different shades of lipstick then have blowjob contests (using the lipstick as markers).

I say over-represented. There aren’t a hundred, but more than you’d expect.

That is probably true, but I am talking about navigating pronouns. Even writing same sex couples more difficult, you get into three or four characters of the same gender and it is extremely hard to juggle who is doing what to who.

***Ahem*** My summer comp entry below.

“Neha fucks a family of firefighters in a firestorm.” Three generations of men from one family, youngest a virgin and the oldest is 72.

I think that’s a pretty unique setup. :D

Very true. I used to love the Group Sex category more than most. Nowadays, I read it with flashbacks of sitting behind a keyboard, trying to juggle pronouns. With my group sex scenes, actors tend to 'get lost' and reappear, which is sloppy.

Oh my word, that sounds fantastic!

Even with 1st Person POV it gets difficult. Eventually you don't know whose limb is where. While you could write about the disorientation, I do not know whether it would please the readers who might want to be able to visualize it perfectly.

Lots of weird fetishes out there, Lit and beyond. I think most people just need to learn to tag their stories properly, with the fetishes in mind.

I've vowed that if I ever write four people of the same sex again, they have to at least find out all of each others' names! Having two of the men not know the names of the other two was a nightmare (I think it worked out in the end - 'Turkish Delight')

My 'Smoking Hot' series is a bit misleading - only the first chapter has any smoking in it, though there's a bit of a nod to it as a fetish. The lead character is persuaded to use cock-sucking as a smoking substitute...

What I struggle to find is stories with lots of sexy dialogue or about the psychological aspects of BDSM or sex. You'd think, given it's a medium of words, that there would be more playing with words. Maybe I haven't found the right search terms.

I've written a couple stories for Group. I took some time to study amateur photos from threesomes, foursomes and orgies before I wrote the first one. What I noticed was that at least one man was usually standing out, and that larger groups seemed to divide into fairly fluid couples and threesomes. Piles of people all doing each other at once weren't all that common.

I broke up my foursomes and more and let them swap partners. I had people stand out to watch and usually avoided same-sex pairs. That made the pronouns a lot easier.

Probably not the right authors. I think with BDSM as a genre you often run into the issue of people approaching/understanding it in so many different ways. It helps to be a bit of a Goldilocks.

It's a POV issue as well.

I think this kind of story works best from the woman's point of view, where she is being serviced by a group of men, and where it doesn't necessarily matter that much to the story which man is where. It's a matter of her sensation and her experience.

This is a great strategy and I think it also allows for longer sex scenes that have more sensuality behind each 'phase'.

Recently, I tried out a new strategy. I wrote a threesome and because the characters were new to the reader, I simply 'switched off the lights' in the room. This let the male POV character simply focus on the sensations without referring to names (or even pronouns).

Pronoun wise F-M-F from one of the women's POV is easy, but...

It doesn't go over well with M-F-M from a guy's POV. The masses at Literotica banish male-on-male to the Gay Male Ghetto where the gates are securely locked at sundown.

In 'The Captain's Woman,' a Star Trek Fan Fiction, Mr. Spock and Captain Kirk were spit-roasting Lieutenant Moreau. In response to something James said, the ever logical S'chn T'gai explained that the answer was obvious, that he and James were brothers and that James enjoys being able to communicate his brotherly love for the Science Officer-- in a manner acceptable to Earth's primitive sexual customs-- through Marlena...

Five alarms in the comment section...

Invite five close friends over, rearrange the living room furniture so you can see everything, get them naked, set your laptop up on a small table in the corner. Write what you see... :)

Edit: don't forget to global replace names before publishing...

Happens every time I go to a party — just me standing in the corner with my laptop. :D
