Trump voters.

Trump's popularity is not exactly soaring to new heights, since many people
are dropping dead from coronavirus, in areas that Trump counts on for votes.

last week. Republicans presented a half-hearted, less-than-half-arsed ideas about how to
provide money for the hideous coronavirus disaster. Did Trump's enforcers kick "Moscow
Mitch"in the seat of his pants ? Suddenly, Mitch is talking about letting his August vacation
float away.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell told CNN that senators will
“certainly be in next week,” delaying the start of the chamber's August recess.

"We'll certainly be in next week. We'll see what happens after that," McConnell said.

White House officials Steve Mnuchin and Mark Meadows set a deadline to negotiate
with Democrats for the end of the week. It’s unclear if they will meet that.

GOP Sen. Roy Blunt, a member of leadership, argued that if there wasn’t a deal,
members might as well go home.

“If there’s not a deal by Friday, there won’t be a deal,” Blunt said.

As of now, unlike Florida, most of the major swing states automatically mail out
applications for absentee ballots. This is not the same as mailing out ballots
(the sort of “Democrat-imposed” systems Lara Trump referenced).
That’s only done in a handful of states, mostly ones that do all
vote-by-mail elections. Nevada will now mail out ballots;
hence the president’s rage.

Trump and Republicans are relying on state laws in virtually all the swing states
that, among other things, invalidate mail ballots that are postmarked before election
day but arrive after it. This is what you might call a "safeguard.” Meanwhile, Trump’s
handpicked chief of the U.S. Postal Service is implementing reforms that are unleashing
large mail delivery delay.

Those state laws could make the disenfranchising effects of those delays worse,
voting rights experts say, by resulting in untold numbers of ballots that arrive late
being invalidated. Democrats are litigating in those states to get late-arriving ballots
accepted. Trump and Republicans are fighting against that, screaming about fraud.

Trump's wrecking ball, Louis DeJoy, is pressing ahead with an overhaul of the
“organizational structure” of USPS with less than 100 days to go before the
November elections.

The “slower and less reliable mail delivery” caused by DeJoy’s policies, the lawmakers
warned, endangers “the well-being of millions of Americans that rely on the Postal
Service for delivery of Social Security checks, prescriptions, and everyday mail
of all kinds.”

The lawmakers also urged the inspector general to investigate DeJoy’s potential conflicts
of interest.

“They are delaying Social Security checks and other mail and potentially
disenfranchising millions of voters,” Elizabeth Warren wrote.

million and $75.3 million in assets in USPS competitors or contractors, according to a
financial disclosure Wos filed with the Office of Government Ethics when she was
nominated.

Postal Service mail processing contractor XPO Logistics — which acquired DeJoy’s
company New Breed Logistics in 2014 — represents the vast majority of those holdings.
Their combined stake in competitors UPS and trucking company J.B. Hunt is roughly
$265,000.

Twenty-three postal executives were reassigned or displaced, the new organizational chart shows.

Postal Service banned employees from working overtime and making extra trips
to deliver mail- not allowed to sort the mail before trips to deliver mail

Gerald Connolly (D-Va.), chair of the House subcommittee responsible for postal oversight
called the reorganization “a deliberate sabotage” to the nation’s mail service and a “Trojan Horse.”

The changes worried postal analysts, who say the tone of DeJoy’s first eight weeks
and his restructuring have recast the nation’s mail service as a for-profit arm of the
government, rather than an essential service.

As a result of the recent changes, Karol told NPR's Noel King on Morning Edition,
a mail processing machine was removed from her facility in Waterloo and others
have been removed across Iowa.

Of the policy to leave some letters behind for the following day, another postal worker
told NPR last month: "I am sick to my stomach," knowing that means medication could
be delayed in getting to recipients.

Karol echoed that point: "I grew up in a culture of service where every piece was to
be delivered, to be delivered every day." She said the Postal Service's new polices are
"not allowing us to deliver every piece every day, as we've done in the past."

Other postal workers "all across the country" agree, she said.

A letter carrier in Cincinnati was told to leave mail behind if it would require using overtime.

"We are already short-handed," she told Government Executive. "We don't have enough
people to get all the routes done without using overtime."

Karol argues that the measures won't save money either. "I see this as a way to undermine
the public confidence in the mail service," she said. "It's not saving costs. We're spending
more time trying to implement these policy changes, and it's, in our offices, costing more
overtime."

What was once a reliable and safe method of transporting chicks has apparently
been undermined by widespread overhauls of operations at the U.S. Postal Service
including cutbacks in sorting equipment, ending extra trips by carriers and an edict
to end all overtime by Postmaster General Louis DeJoy.

The Postal Service is the only entity that ships live chicks and other small animals
and has done so since 1918, according to the service’s web site.

into a House measure that eventually became law in 2006 It burdened USPS
with something no other federal office has to supply, despite the overwhelming
number of tasks that the USPS is expected to take responsibility for. The mail
is not a business, it is a service that the goverment supplies to the public. We
do not ask the Pentagon to turn a profit, and it routinely fucks over its employees.

Mail Machines taken from Maine

Two of the 10 mail sorting machines at the U.S. Postal Service’s Southern Maine
Processing and Distribution Center in Scarborough were removed prior to PG Louis
DeJoy’s comments Tuesday that he would suspend all operational changes until after
the November election.

One of the machines was dismantled entirely; the other was sent to the processing center
in Hampden to replace an older machine there, according to Mark Seitz, president of
the National Association of Letter Carriers Local 92.

Seitz said even though DeJoy indicated all changes are suspended going forward,
they won’t apply retroactively.

“The damage is done,” he said. “Those machines aren’t coming back.”

U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree, D-Maine, called the removal of the two machines i
n Scarborough a “dangerous move.”

“There is no rational explanation that any mail sorting machines would be
secretly thrown in the trash,” Pingree said in a statement. “I have heard
from my colleagues that hundreds have been destroyed around the country."

Massachusetts postal workers on Monday confirmed the recent removal of some
mail-processing machines. John Flattery, president of American Postal Workers
Union Local 4553, which covers Central Massachusetts, said three delivery-
barcode sorters, which are machines that process mail, were removed from
a Shrewsbury mail distribution center earlier this summer.

He said the removal of the machines has not had an impact since the Postal
Service has seen a dramatic decrease in mail since the onset of COVID-19
pandemic in March.

Still, he said, it “makes no sense” why they were removed. Typically they are powered
down and a tarp is thrown over them during slow months for mail until they are needed
again when mail picks up in the fall. He estimated there are still between 10 and 15 such
machines left in the center. He said the removal of the three machines will hopefully not
be an issue in coming weeks in terms of sorting mail swiftly.

”Why they just threw them away, nobody understands,” said Flattery,
whose union represents about 650 workers.

“The less machines we have, obviously the less processing ability we have,”
said the worker, who requested anonymity since he was not authorized to speak,
on Monday.

Two of the groups that support voting by mail in Pennsylvania, Citizens for Pennsylvania’s
Future and the Sierra Club, asked the Trump campaign to demonstrate that there is a
connection between mail-in voting and voter fraud — and Judge J. Nicholas Ranjan
granted their motion, asking the campaign to “produce such evidence in their possession,
and if they have none, state as much.”

The Trump campaign produced a 524-page document in response to Ranjan’s request,
and The Intercept obtained a copy. According to Salame, the document “contains a few
scant examples of election fraud” — but none of them actually involve mail-in ballots.

Another group opposing Trump’s campaign in the lawsuit is Common Cause PA.
Salame quotes Suzanne Almeida, the group’s interim director, as saying, “Not only
did the campaign fail to provide evidence that voter fraud was a widespread problem
in Pennsylvania — they failed to provide any evidence that any misconduct occurred
in the primary election or that so-called voter fraud is any sort of regular problem in
Pennsylvania.”

This week, some Post Offices complied with Postmaster General DeJoy's orders-
They did not remove the mail sorting machines from the trash dumpsters,
and they sent the mail trucks out on time- but the trucks were empty.

Just folloing orders, someone in Colorado dumped a very new high speed
high volume mail sorting machine into the trash heap. At the mail processing
facility, at the USPS annex.

Circular logic- PG DeJoy ordered the removal of the machines, and packages
and mail are piling up, because the machines are not there to sort them.
Nothing is ready on time formail delivery, and the trucks are leaving empty,
