I followed Angel into the offices where her reading was supposed to take place. The waiting room was filled with actors and actresses reading for various parts and they spilled out into seats setup in the hallway as well. I took a seat in the hallway not wanting to take up space in the main waiting room as I waited for Angel.

It was amazing how all the actresses had a similar look. All stunningly beautiful with auburn hair. I had been sitting quietly for almost an hour when the actress sitting next to me snapped me out of the daze I was in.

"Are you reading for the producer role?" she asked, crossing her legs toward me.

"Umm, no. Not really." I said as I let my eyes drift over her body.

"Would you help me run through my lines?"

I really didn't know what all that entailed but she seemed nice enough and I wasn't doing anything else. "Sure." I said shifting my body towards her.

"Ok, just sit there then." she said before closing her eyes and taking on a different affect. When she opened her eyes she started to recite her lines."

"I've been so close on so many parts since I go here. I don't intend to be a waitress forever. I'm going to do whatever it takes to make it in this business."

As she began to speak her voice sounded of desperation but slowly transitioned into a seductive tone. As she said "make it in this business." she leaned in close to me. I could feel her breath on my cheek as she reached down and started to stroke my cock through my pants. I was frozen not sure what to do but I could feel my cock stiffening from her touch.

"Oh my!" she said as she bit her lower lip then ran her hand along the length of it. "you should be doing porn." she whispered into my ear just as Angel emerged from the waiting room and caught my eye.

"Ummm, I think you're ready for your reading." I said before standing up quickly. I could feel my cheeks burning and knew they were beet red as Angel approached.

"You ready?" I asked.

"Hands off Sandy." I said as I noticed Sandy Rogers pawing poor Devin as he stood going red I couldn't blame him.

She pouted up at him her eyes flashing dangerously.

"Careful, he'll realise what's behind that pouty mask." I said while sliding my hand into Devins and leading him out.

"Yes, done. Kaz levy me a note in there the coffee thing is cancelled, and he wants me at The Jade Lounge at 8pm."

I was positive my tone gave away what I thought about going there.

"Its a more Risque club. Almost a gentlemen's club. Apparently there's a Mister Thornton there. He's got some script and Kazmer wants me to play nice."

I didn't know, Devin had ran into Thornton before when he was guarding another client and that he man handled women as if they were toys.

When she’d mentioned the name Thornton my skin went cold. I’d met him once before when I was working for a hedge fund billionaire who was interested in investing in one of his films. The guy was grade A garbage.

“Fuck! I know this guy.” I said letting out a sigh as we got in the car. “Let’s get some food while I work out a plan for this.”

Angel directed me to a Thai restaurant she liked that was near her house. As we drove my mind drifted back to my one encounter with Thornton and how he treated every woman in his orbit like they were his personal concubine. What I also remembered is how he seemed to like to show off and make sure there was an audience there to watch. For some reason he seemed particularly eager to impress me. It was surprising since I was a nobody to him. It was almost as if he wanted to show that his power and influence trumped my physical power. I thought of how his insecurity could be used to our advantage.

By the time the food arrived I’d come up with a plan. In between bites I started to explain it.

“If he knows I’m your security, he’s going to do everything he can to put ground between us. Other than make a scene, I don’t think there’s a way to stop that. What I’d like to do is come in a couple minutes after you and act like me being there is a coincidence. For whatever reason, I’m pretty confident he’ll ask me to sit with him. He won’t be able to help himself. If he does, I can be there to keep an eye on you without him trying to drag you away from me. That work for you?”

The moment he said he knew him. I figured it wouldn't be for a good reason. Not with the little he said.

we ordered and I simply watched him while sitting there. Waiting for him to work out a plan of attack. As he talked finally I listened.

It made sense enough to me. I was wondering if he realised yet. I had my persona, who the public and agents and people of power saw.

Devin has at times seen the girl behind it all. The female who at times didn't like what I had to do to get ahead.

I had a feeling this would be one of those times.

We got to eat most of the meal before Kazmer turned up in person. He knew my car. "Angel! Sweetie." His lips pressing to my cheek. Before he looked to Devin.

"Don't you fuck this next gig up." Yes those were his first words to Devin. "This script, if she lands the part helps us." What Kaz really means was it helps him. It may eventually do me some good. But Kaz it could open doors.

I’d already worked out that I didn’t like Kaz all that much. He was an opportunist and a manipulator but when he came into the restaurant and talked to me that way my dislike for him only grew. It was obvious that, though he may have had concerns for Angel’s safety, as soon as her safety interfered with his own goals he’d choose himself every time.

“Don’t worry about me. “ I said trying my best to mask my distain for him.

Kaz left as quickly as he arrived and we left shortly after him.

We pulled up in front of Jade Lounge just before 8:00 and, after scanning the surroundings, I let Angel go in before me. It was a nervous few moments where she was out of my sight but when I entered I found her already talking to Thornton. I made my way to the bar and ordered a tall club soda that I could nurse then made my way over to his table.

“Thornton?” I said acting surprised to see him.

“Devin! It’s been a long time! This is my friend Angel. I’m sure you’ve heard of her. Have a seat and join us.” He said patting the table.

It would have been comical if the man wasn’t so predictable. I knew he wouldn’t be able to resist showing me what a big deal he was. I took a seat as his attention returned to Angel.
