Ok. So yesterday was childish, pervy come ons from people I don't know. Then today I actually engaged in what started out as an intellectual discussion but quickly degenerated into some sport of 'attack the newbie'.

Yes it was on the GB. And yes, I know the PG is more 'friendly'. But the GB does have more engaging topics. Too bad there is a lack of such topics on the PG and lack of civil growups on the GB.

Is there no civil, adult discussion to be had around here? Again, I know this is an 'adult/porn' board, but come on people. Just because you can be anonymous, doesn't mean you have to be a total ass. And to what end anyway? What's the point?

There are civil and intellectual conversations on several of the boards, granted for some they aren't in threads titled as such... a lot of them take place in threads where flirting and chatting have begun. The conversation then turns into something less sexual and then blends into whatever is happening with the world around us.

There are some good threads over on the Author's Hangout forum as well, or if you have a particular topic you want to discuss you can try starting your own thread and see what happens. I can't promise you that it'll all be serious, but very well could be interlaced with flirt as well as intellect.

The GB... *sigh* it's hard over there; I rarely venture. I post occassionally on a thread, usually once or twice, state my point and leave. I simply choose to stay where I am most comfortable and enjoy my time the most. I don't do political threads, because I'm the first to admit I know next to nothing when it comes to politics. I'll offer what I can when I feel compelled enough to put my two cents in (though it's probably not even worth that much to some.)

It's going to take time to find your place in Lit. If you give it a chance, post around a bit and hang out with folks, I think you'll enjoy yourself.

I hope you don't mind me asking, but why come to an adult erotica board if you're looking for stimulating discussion on grown up topics? Surely you'd be better off on a normal chat board? I come here to step away from reality, have a giggle and a flirt. It's not always about sex, once you make friends you can have normal, everday conversations too, but it just seems a bit strange complaining about the lack of debate and people coming on to you when it's essentially a porn board.

It is not so much that I came here to look for stimulating discussion. I came for the stories (sound familiar?), discovered the boards and began lurking. Along the way, I saw some folks posting that intrigued me. This includes flirty, fun folks as well as thought provoking ones. So I am not pouting about why there is no serious discussion on a porn board. But there are serious discussions titled in many GB threads. So when I happen upon a thread that 'looks like' it was intended to be a discussion topic, I am disappointed to find childish behavior.

Trust me (or don't), I can be as fun, carefree, flirty or raunchy as the next person. And I do come here for escape and to relax. But just as I do in real life, when I happen upon a curious topic, I am likely as not to engage myself in the discussion. I am naturally curious, convinced I do not know everything about any specific subject and am always excited by the opportunity to learn something I did not know or expand my understanding of a subject I enjoy. Whether it is a debate on global warming theory or the best positions and techniques for servicing my man.

My state of mind moves from serious to relaxed to light heated with ease. But I simply do not tolerate boorish and mean spirited attitudes very well. I find them depressing and draining and wholly unnecessary. I prefer to laugh, love and give compliments and encouragement and support wherever I can.

Interestingly enough, I have since been engaged by a couple of folks in PM that have been kind, welcoming and happy to extend the discussions to PM exchanges.

Hey... you've done no such thing as far as I can tell. You've certainly not brought the thread down. I understand what you're saying, and yes, there are often lively debates on all manner of topics here, but PG is a very lighthearted place and we try not to take anything too seriously. The GB is full of people who class themselves a degree above such inane pursuits, yet pursue noobs who dare to invade their territory with the abandon of a pack of hounds let loose on a fox. In my time here, I have made many, many friends, some through flirting, others through innocent chat, so please don't give up on the place.

I came here to enjoy the stories. And to relax. But also to 'casually' meet new people at a time and in a place that is convenient to my insane schedule. I work, I am a mother, a wife, a volunteer, a taxi driver, booster club president, etc. My free time is hit and miss and often fleeting. Which makes it difficult to maintain friendships in the 'real world'.

Lit looked/s like a way to meet some new and interesting folks in an environment where people come and go and I can catch up as time allows. Whether that be during a break while working, between mom duties or late at night between laundry loads.
