Yet Another Reason to become a Democrat

After 8 years of waking up to Bill Clinton as president we were conditioned to have nightmares. Luckily he's a European now.

This is hilarious.

You really expect us to believe that ANYTHING that comes out of UC Santa Cruz is fair and balanced?

UC Santa Cruz is WAY more to the left than even Berkeley.

Please.

This is the equivalent of Todd quoting the American Spectator and asking us to believe it's fair and balanced.

This smells of bad science to me...

I'd very much like to see the experimental design for a study like this. The hypothesis being tested immediately raises a red flag as to the researchers motives. Very little makes me more upset than political activists dressing up their propaganda as science and presenting it to a non-critical public as objective truth.

Still, there's at least some intuitive truth to some of their conclusions. There aren't any more fearful philosophers with regard to the human condition than proto-conservatives like Hobbes and Macchiavelli. Hobbes argued that human behavior is primarily motivated by a fear of violent death and that the consequence of this fear being the universal human desire for power in all it's many forms. The desire for wealth, status, political power, social connections, love, and all other human strivings are all means of protecting one's self against one's fellow men (who are of course themselves all similarly motivated fear and striving for power to protect themselves as well.) Human society, in this light is really just a complex dance of defensive interactions between people each terrified for their lives.

It's definitely an unattractive, even a dismal view of the human condition, but try as I might, I can't help but see a good bit of truth in it, especially in the context of tumultuous periods of history and today's violent regions of the world, like Israel.

Perhaps there are ways of being redeemed from this all-encompassing fear. Maybe that's one of the appeals of religious faith. I don't know.

But I suspect that study was more than a bit politically motivated. ;)

hahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahhahahahaha

You'll fell for it!!!!

Suckers!!!!!

I understand there was a follow up study that showed that neither Republicans or Democrats actually slept very often at all - and when they did, there sleep was often restless and interupted frequently by lobbyists.

Who has more & better sex?

I suspect that people are kinkier when Republicans are in power - a bit more decadent. Interesting....

Yes indeed, I second that - have him stay in Europe by all means...hell, make him a citizen of your country and then elect him as leader if you think he's so damn great :)

See it's true. Democrats have a clearer conscience. :)
You shouldn't mistake no conscience for a clear conscience. :p

And you even have the imprudence to be proud of it. The Europeans, it seems, live up to the expectations of Mr. Barnam.

The answer is Yes ?

He wanted...
