.....simply because they were Democrats?

Or Republicans?

Not the exremist kind that post memes and articles 24/7 and bait others into arguments.

Unfriend them just because of party affiliation.

I know two Trump supporters that did this so far in 2017.

My ex brother-in-law couldn't deal with the fact that his two granddaughters ( 21 and 17 ) had minds of their own. He kept telling them their opinions were going to ruin his warped version of 'Merica where Rebel Flags fly, Obama failed to take away his guns and Muslims were n*****s ( talk that earned him several temp bans from Facebook ). And when they politely told him to keep his opinions to himself or in the very least on his own page - he flipped out and unfriended them and their parents and his ex- wife and her sisters and me.

I've posted something political on FB once, but never talked politics at any family gatherings simply because of him and others in the family that are likewise unhinged.

I would if they thought rape was something to joke about. :)

Not because of partisanship but because of the nonstop-ness of it all. I unfollowed someone important in my life because all she posts is inspirational crap. Another for posting bird pics...every single day. Another because it was anti government everything. Another because everything was nonstop atheism. Another was too bible thumping. Stop with trying to push your bullshit causes.

I run a tight ship.

That's reasonably justified in my book.

I usually resorted to not following as well, rather than unfriending and hurting their feelings.

Sounds like I made a wise decision by not making a Facebook account. If it is so damn important to talk to me they can Skype, text, email or call my cell. I avoid all of that bullshit and retain my sanity.

I unfollowed the most virulent Stormtrumpers in my FB feed.

I got unfriended by a girl I used to date (but was on good terms with) after she got a paid job shilling for Ted Cruz. She said it was nothing personal, but the staff required her to pare her FB friend lists of non-True Believers as a condition of employment.

No, because I'm an adult who talks to his tribe on the phone and in person.

FB is just a webpage extension used to grab some more sales, not a family management app.

I only have it to keep friends and family in the loop, and there are many different voices there in regard to politics, religion, public or homeschool education. Even if we disagree.

But, there was one rabid one... an old family friend of my parents that really didn't matter to me if we were friends or not, so... delete.

I like to think I'm adult enough to have friends who aren't exactly my clone. I am even friends here and on Skype with someone who marched in DC on Saturday. It keeps things interesting. :)

I have a lot of conservatives in my family, including one Republican legislator, but the only one I was ever prompted to unfollow was someone who celebrated Trump's victory by posting some Ted Nugent rant. I'd prefer never to see that shit, but literally hours after the election? Last straws don't get much more definitive than that.

Most people I know can put politics in its proper place when it comes to Facebook.

I've unfriended many people during the campaign and subsequent election. I used to be pretty liberal in who I would accept friend requests from though. I honestly don't care if people's feelings are hurt that I unfriend - the chances of me seeing them are slim to none (as it seems attending any sort of high school reunion would be more like attending a Trump rally). If it's someone I am close to I just hide them.

I keep Facebook around to keep up with local events and organizations mostly anymore anyway such as the march this past weekend.

No Facebook, so I bypass all that messiness. Haven't ruled out using it, but it'd be strictly for biz, not family-friend connecting. It's best for families, actually, but unless everyone is real close-knit or on the same page and wavelength, you more or less end up negating the reasons why you only see certain fam & pals on a limited and distanced basis. Like an ongoing Thanksgiving dinner table get-together where your shitty off-color drunk uncle never shuts up.

You can tailor things better on other social media.

Most people don't have the willpower to ignore people they dislike on the board, and you think they're going to unfriend people that somehow tolerate them?

Sounds unlikely.

If we were friends on Facebook I would unfriend you for this, but sneak onto your page every night to see if you were bad-mouthing me.

Ha! Can you imagine that lil' fella on Facebook... He'd be 'unfriended' by folks he ain't even poked yet, or trolled incessantly until his head exploded.

It would be funny to read his posts to Mark Zuckerberg though, appealing to him to make the meanies stop. Tough to be haughty and get attention, when no one sees you.

I do it all the time. I have no friends, and no family outside of my kids. Democrats are morons. My iggy list here is huge. I'll drop you if youre polite to a Democrat.

Sad, miserable Jimmy. Even the Klan would unfriend your sorry ass from their Facey Page.

And pull out your big-ass, white-trash, reading magnifying glass. Your signature looks like it was written by a blind curmudgeon.

Wonder if he also hides his face on Facebook too. At least there you can block and never know they exist. Ahhh, what sweet heaven that would be.

Contrary to what you doofuses expect or how I behave here, I actually have the type of personality and open demeanour that made me generally 'liked' and 'polular' in school and at workplace. That I made a few changes and I'm now hanging out with you losers - that's an entirely different story.

Facebook - I tried it but it wasn't my thing. I much prefer the bulletin board style of Lit.
Plus FB keeps you chained so to speak - it creates expectations that you check and follow it up regularly. I'd rather talk with friends and family over the phone whenever I feel like it.
