Winter Holiday Support Thread

wondering when the troll sweeper is coming round. lit seemed to have a bit of a 'problem' yesterday...but i know i got one'd atleast once ... *sigh*

I;ve not written a contest entry this year, but I do have a question. Do you have to be a member of Lit to vote on this contest? I thought it was only the end-of-year author's awards that you had to be a member to vote on. Someone enlighten me and give me the joyous gift of being right

Carson,

As a contestent, I appreciate you not entering, thereby giving the rest of us a chance. But as a writer I wish you'd reconsider.

It was always my impression that voting was open to the public. But somebody who actually knows what they're talking about should be along soon to give us the definitive answer.

I wish they'd hurry, I need to know I'm right before work. :)

Thanks for your kind words; but I'm already not-writing first drafts of two novels. Not-writing a contest entry would be too much procrastination and avoidance even for me.

You may have created an entirely new genre, not-writing fiction.
(or given a name to a long-existing one)

RCVd your yarn... Thanks for kicking
my day off right :nana:
I'm taking a chance and showing my extreme naivity and bad spelling to ask what is RCVd?

OMG it's up

http://english.literotica.com/stories/showstory.php?id=230634

I haven't checked if its been trolled, been commented on or anything.

Such a departure from my normal boring or dark writing, although my alt's name was a stroke of something  just not inspiration.

PS on looking I've been anoned for Grammar. I knew it would happen, I just couldn't send this thing to anyone that normally reads through for me and its damn hard editing when you're going OMG did I write this.

My good mood fizzled out too quickly...

I just realized it's now officially been 5 full days
since I've had a sweep, a vote, a comment or
even a view :p

I can only hope my counter is stuck, but
-- just in case -- any advice or tips on how
to lure readers?

I'd still like to know how one bad vote can knock my rating all to hell, but to bring it up takes about five good votes..make sense? I think now.

I've never opened any story of mine to public comments so this is an experiment of sorts.

I'm probably playing with fire.

Playing with fire can be exciting.

Well, I've done it. Yup "Proving Santa Exists" is now sitting in the queue, waiting for approval. *exitedly wriggles in her chair*

Congratulations, EL! I can't wait to read it. :)

My 2nd entry just went up... it's a total departure from most anything I've done... I'd appreciate feedback if anyone has time to check it out... link in my sig line :)

It's a mathmatical deal. Give yourself 20 votes, half are four's, half are fives. That would give you a score of 4.5. (4 x 10 = 40, 5 x 10 = 50 + 40 = 90 divided by 20 = 4.5)

Now add one point (a one-bomb) and divide 91 by 21.

Then add 5 points and divide 95 by 21.

And that's why.

Doc's 2nd chapter to Snow and the River... as usual, can't recommend him highly enough... really beautiful stuff...

Damn, no wonder I flunked Business math in college.

It's still irritating though, as if it's easier to hate a story then to really like it.

But thanks for the info.
