The standards I admire are standards people living in countries need to have for those countries to be successful.

Where intelligence, obedience to the law, and monogamy are widespread in a country's population the country has a high standard of living - even in lieu of natural resources - a low crime rate, and a well functioning government. Where these characteristics are rare in a country's population we find a high crime rate, a tyrannical government, and widespread poverty, even when natural resources are abundant.
