As for the question in the OP, I firmly believe men are much raunchier and hornier than women, at least in casual sex. If you take a census in a major city, you will find a huge majority of the prostitutes are women servicing men. Even the male prostitutes mostly service other men. If you go to an online site where people advertise for sex partners, such as Adult Friend Finder, about 90% are men. And, a large number of the women are prostitutes looking for johns or women trying to sell pictures of themselves.

I tend to agree with that film-maker's observation, for no other reason than I believe women's sexuality tends to be more profound, more fluid, and more pervasive than men's. A decade or two ago, I worked in a Radio section.
Next door was the Telephone Operator's rest room.
