Where in the World Is Our Gasoline Disappearing to?

Despite producing more oil than we have in decades, prices at the pump aren't budging. The culprit? We've been increasing the amount of our gasoline that is being exported. While this is great for the profit margins of refiners, it's not so wonderful for our wallets.

We've actually been a net exporter of gasoline since 2009

I knew about this in 2009. But I'm all caught up on my news.

Was it only 2009? I thought we'd been a net exporter of gasoline for longer than that. Turns out a lot of oil producing nations don't have refineries of their own.

We've been saying this for years, it's not "our" oil, it belongs to whatever company obtained it. And they sell it on the international market. Energy independence is a myth told to us by politicians wanting our votes.

Obama gives the gasoline to North Korea. Its part of the TARP deal.

Wait... you thought that oil companies had the best interests of the American citizen at heart?

Hahahahaha!

Ishmael has often touted "peer reviewed" research (i.e. one tin-foil hat Russian journal) that "proves" oil is a renewable resource

("Oil is extracted from the ground, refined into gasoline, and as gas is ignited it rises into the atmosphere. There it coalesces and falls to the ground with rainwater. It seeps deeper into the soil and pools as its own aquifier. Hence, the cycle begins anew...")

To say the author has a lot of information wrong would be inaccurate. To say ALL of his information wrong would be correct.

Only in 2011 did the U.S. become a net exporter of oil. It's going to take years for the U.S. to consistently be a net exporter of oil. And again years before the U.S. overtakes Saudi Arabia. Don't forget that the U.S. is again still years away from any sort of energy independence.

I've already destroyed busy body on this so just look at these two posts.

And for the future anything posted on a website with the word "fool" in it should automatically be discounted.

Think "Refined Petroleum Products"

That is what we export the most of.
