I always say only two things drive us in this life fear and love
well there has to be some kind of love there for the relationship to exist
even if your just fuck buddies, it's the sex you love.
if it's purly pletonic. still you love that person else you'd not want to be around them.
if your useing them, you love what your useing them for (usually money or a car)

I'd say Communication. The things I place importance on all rely heavily on it.
Trust comes from having good communication, and honesty, which is a vital part of communication.
If you communicate well with your partner, you know the needs, the desires of that person, so they don't need to look elsewhere for what they need, and that takes care of sex and faithfullness. Appearance? You love who you love, and you don't get to choose the vessle that person comes in.

I think that is one of the most difficult things to work out. You may love them so much, but not like them. It's not a contradiction.
