Thoughts on testosterone supplements

Personally, I liked the regular Nugenix black better. Thought it gave me a noticeable boost. Total T was okay but nothing outstanding.
Again... I'm surprised. Covering the cost of testosterone for patients with true hypogonadism is much cheaper for insurance companies than covering the medical problems that arise if it goes untreated.

Again, even if my insurance didn't cover it, it wouldn't stop me from getting it. I'd find a way to pay for it even if it costs hundreds of dollars per month.

Before finally testing my T-levels my primary care doctor thought my symptoms (extreme tiredness, brain fog) were due to depression or ADD. So, for two years I tried several meds for those conditions which not only didn't help they had their own unpleasant side effects.

No man should be on TRT unless there is a clear need. You'll be on it forever and you'll be anxious every time you get your blood tests - which should be every 4-6 months. Does it make me horny?? ..My doctor insists that I'm no hornier than I'd be with normal levels without being on TRT. ..And I believe this is true as my siblings also have super high libidos and are NOT on TRT.

TRT total replacement therapy?

If I'm understanding correctly, I hope. I have a friend who completely believes that his injections make a world of difference both sexually and just basic energy levels. He swears that if he goes too long without injections, he feels like someone else completely. He is the one who encouraged me to get my t levels checked. I've got some *hopefully* minor medical issues to explore and if that doesn't bring about some reasons for a very diminishing sex drive, which I think partly is due to extreme work stress, I never cry but I'll admit, I broke down on my wife this morning in tears, I always feel so weak when I give in to crying (I was raised in the generation of "real men don't cry, it's been ingrained into my way of thinking stil to this day). Sorry, went off in the weeds there.....
Anyway , once I get these medical issues explored, if nothing seems to be the reason for lower sex drive, I may have a discussion with my gp about exploring the option of t replacement. I understand the negatives, I'm tired of feeling like someone else. Many women don't understand, a man's sex energy seems closely linked to the energy we use for every day things. At least for the very selective few people I've discussed this with agree with that thought. If our sex drive disappears, so does the energy, the fun, the things that make us, us.

As I get older, I'm noticing my sex drive and stamina aren't what they used to be. I'm very active at work and am a very healthy weight. Has anyone had any luck with natural supplements that boosted energy and possibly helped your body feel like you have more longevity for sex? Not looking for medical advice as I understand the possible problems just any information on what worked for you.
I was tested for testosterone levels and it wasn't that. Be interesting to read if others feel like additional testosterone helps.

Are you having problems getting in the mood or just energy levels? I'm at work so I shouldn't spend too much time sifting through the thead. If it's performance issues, I have a suggestion that worked incredibly well for me.

If your diminished energy and sex drive are the result of below normal testosterone levels then yes, testosterone replacement therapy a.k.a. TRT will definitely help. But only if your levels are below normal. As a outlined earlier, you don’t want to take testosterone otherwise…

But don’t take my word for it… Talk to an endocrinologist or a urologist. This is one of the bread and butter conditions of their specialty and practice. And if your levels do come back below normal, you should not be reluctant to commence therapy. The risks of not treating are greater than the risks of treatment.

For being worn out I found my thyroid was off. At almost 65 definitely looking for performance help

My wife has thyroid issues. It definitely can throw your body out of whack. I had blood work done but nothing of concern was found, good and bad. Was hoping that they'd find something and then say, take this, you'll feel like your old self in no time. Lol, wishful thinking.

Try alpha cactus. I know supplements are subjective and not a universal solution, but it worked wonders for me.

I'm normally very skeptical of such things but I tried it and was absolutely shocked. If you read the reviews, I'm the Josh W review. That's my honest to God opinion of this stuff.

Are you sure insurance (or Medicare) won't pay for your HRT? Your levels are below normal, which means you're at increased risk of other things like osteoporosis, atrial fibrillation (according to some data) cognitive decline, and low energy. Plus, low T is generally associated with a shorter life expectancy. Yes, insurance may not cover it for a guy whose levels are normal but just wants to feel years younger, but that is not the case with you. Denying coverage of your TRT is like denying coverage for insulin for a diabetic or levothyroxine for someone who is hypothyroid. I would double check that, if I were you. Besides, it's cheap. I'd pay out of pocket, if I were you.

Given your levels I would head to either a Urologist or and Endocrinologist. They are MUCH MORE experienced with treating hypogonadism (which you have) than a Primary Care Doctor. It may take a bit to get an appt, but it's worth it. Do yourself a favor - you deserve to feel better than you probably do.
Thank you, I did look into it and it seems that Androgel is the only one mine covers at least partially and of course you have to meet certain requirements and get preapproval for it but if they do it looks like my out of pocket isn't all that much on a monthly basis. I am going to talk to my primary to see who he would recommend for either a Urologist or Endocrinologist, he did talk to me about possibly going after the numbers were still not where they should be but I wanted to try other more organic ways to improve it but I am thinking it's a losing fight as they just aren't getting there, so again thanks for your input and hopefully I can post here on any results if it works!

I recently started hormone pellet therapy. It’s a natural hormone that gets implanted into your lower back every 5-6 months. I did it 3 weeks ago and I feel so much better. I have energy and motivation to work out again and my erections are stronger and last longer. It’s not a fountain of youth but it’s a dramatic improvement.

I tried Androgel and unfortunately it did not work for me. Some people can absorb it well enough through the skin to raise the T levels into range, but others can't. So don't be surprised if it doesn't work for you. Plus, you need to be careful about transference to your partner or kids.... It must be totally dry before putting on a shirt or before anyone can touch where you've applied it (on shoulders, if I remember correctly).

There are other ways to take TRT including the most common which is drawing T into a syringe and injecting under the skin (your doctor will instruct you how to do it), which is quite cheap. I did have T pellets (brand name Testopel) placed under the skin but after a few years my Endo had a hard time finding a spot where there wasn't scar tissue from a previous implantation. Plus, I hated having to go see him at a hospital down in the city for the implants. So now, I use Xyosted. Check your insurance to see if it's covered. If $ isn't a concern, and you're insurance won't cover it you can buy it from a specialty pharmacy (with a script, of course) for $175 per month (4 injector pens) which is a lot of $, but if you're dragging and feeling like crap AND you hate needles and the other forms didn't work... Well, $2200 per year to get your life back may not seem like too much. It's an auto injector (similar to Ozempic) which makes injection easy and painless.

Which form of TRT you get matters less than the fact that you get it…. You will feel much better.
