Ahhh the joys of home ownership!Eilan said:Wow. The things one misses when one has to do adult stuff like picking up kiddies from school and paying bills.![]()
And speaking of sagging, you should see what my husband discovered when he pried up the plywood sheets that the previous owner had nailed to the floor in what's going to be our new family room.
But that's something for the WPMO thread, I think.
I don't know. It must be bad, because my hubby wants to get drunk tonight. He NEVER drinks to get drunk. Ever.Scalywag said:Oh no. This sounds like either an inadequate framing issue, lack of insulation, or something to do with rodents.

I was asking him if he'd found a body under the floorboards.TBKahuna123 said:Sounds like either termites or dismembered body parts to me.![]()
Huh, houses from that era usually have pretty good construction. Now when you get into the 70's and 80's watch out! There's a severe lack of pride in your work from that period.Eilan said:I was asking him if he'd found a body under the floorboards.![]()
Well, he's had a chance to pull up some of the floorboards, and it looks like a shoddy construction issue. Right now he's pulling them up and numbering them so he can remember where they go. If he can save what's there, he will; if not, he's gonna rip it all up and replace it. At any rate, it's gonna set him back a week or so.
The house was built in 1949, BTW.
We know that the pervious owner had a severe lack of ability when it came to carpentry and craftsmanship.TBKahuna123 said:Huh, houses from that era usually have pretty good construction. Now when you get into the 70's and 80's watch out! There's a severe lack of pride in your work from that period.
