What is most important to you?

Peoeple are most important. Interaction with people. Real live people.

Some think that I use my computer at home to hide from the world, but that really isn't true. If they paid attention they would see that I bolt from it as fast as I can to be around people. If I hear voices in the other room, I am no longer in my room I am around people. If I get a call for a social gathering, I am no longer in my room I am in my car headed out to be with people. Just the other day I was starting up a porn session when I phone a call telling me there was a poker game at the bar (it had been cancled for a short bit). I barely left myself time to zip up before I was out at the bar around people.

Apart from the obvious choice of my family including my granddaughter, I want the community in which I live to be a safe, happy environment in which people can develop themselves in whatever they want to do.

That gives me a set of objectives:

1. My community must be protected against massive physical harm - fire, flooding, explosion, war etc. e.g. the sea defences must be maintained and improved and developers must be prevented from building on flood plains or below sea level. The Fire and Ambulance services must be resourced to cope with emergencies. At a higher level, our armed forces must be sufficient to deter an attacker, including terrorists.

2. My community must be protected against crime and stupidity. Therefore our Police force must be resourced to be effective.

I could go on to cover education, cultural activity etc. I do go on and on in the objectives of one of the group's I lead.

In one or two things I differ from some of the locals. I am prepared to accept developments and resources being put in neighbouring towns if they are accessible. I don't expect my relatively small community to stage a ballet performance. I would expect that the locals could see ballet but in a regional centre. My community is part of a district, a county, a country, the United Kingdom, Europe, and the world. It is dependent on the larger units for many facilities for example energy. We stand or fall with our neighbours.

I try to improve the facilities of my town and to maintain those that exist where feasible. I consider that those activities benefit my family and friends and what I do is ultimately in their interest.

What saddens me is that so many people can't see how dependent they are on others for many things they take for granted. For example, I couldn't write this, and you couldn't read it, except for Laurel and Manu...

Most important to me is family, which includes the kiddies of course.

And I agree, want is better than need.

One of the best compliments I've ever been paid was "you leave deep impressions on people".

That is what is important to me, that I leave an impressions on my children, in my family, my work place and circle of friends. I want, when I die, to have those I've touched gather around and point to the places I've touched them, like happy scars that will be imprinted on them for the remainder of their lives and share those moments with each other.

You express yourself so beautifully.

The most important thing to me is choices.

I lived too much of my life with no choices, only granted the ability to act and feel as other people, most often people with power, wanted.

I hated it.

So the freedom to make choices is the most important thing to me.
