I spend a considerable amount of time here but not nearly enough to be “popular”. I don’t know how some people do it. We all have different and in many cases deeply personal reasons for coming here. Also popularity has different meanings for different people.

I find the need for popularity among strangers on a sex site peculiar too. But one of the common denominators I have observed is most people, men and women, myself included, need validation. So maybe for many that crosses over into popularity?

There is a certain charge we all get from being the belle of the ball so to speak. There’s nothing wrong with that so long as no one gets hurt. We see the same relationship dynamics in the real world.

Lit is not much different than anywhere else where people come together to meet each other. Bars have the same type of energy. There are regulars who take on the personality of the place, new people trying to fit in and the rest who just stop by for a drink once in a while. What makes this place different is it’s a sex centered site. That’s what draws us all here. So that dynamic is what drives the behavior which is backwards from the real world communities and organizations we engage in.

That’s my observation after coming here for over a decade.

There are many reasons for visiting Lit. Probably as many reasons as there are members. But, we all have one thing in common: we are trying to find something we don't have in real life.

I've also been frequenting this site for many years, leaving and returning, leaving and returning ... at different times, for different reasons. But, I think I return not to be popular (that's something I was never interested in real life), but I think Lost Horizon hit on it. We come here for validation. This site is kind of oxymoronic ... it is a sex site, but how can you have sex with a device? (Okay, okay ... this may be true for some...) But, for the majority, I think we are here to have some kind of human contact ... to find that validating "humanness" that enhances our life outside of Lit.

Yeah, the sexy images and naughty thoughts are an attractive incentive, too.

I think this is true for some. And then I think how common it is for people to forget there are real people (mostly) behind the user names. And how disposable they can treat each other.

I arse around a lot on the threads. But my one on one chatting is very limited. Mainly because of how I know that I tend to trust easily and get hurt/let down hard. So I put up walls. I try occasionally to let people in, and... generally, well. Let's just say that it isnt as easy for women on here as you'd all think.
So. Maybe thats why I tend to stick to the superficial...

But everyone is here for different things. And when those things can align with someone, it can be amazing.

I know exactly what you mean about protecting yourself. I have been hurt terribly by people. I have met here over the years which is why I am very careful who I open up to and what I choose to share. The first moment I feel
I am being headgamed by someone I cut ties. It’s not worth it.
