Just curious about the kinds of books the posters here are reading. The "conversations" are interesting and display a wide range of topics and opinions, but similar views on right and wrong. I'd just like to see of our tastes in reading are also similar.

I'll start, and if no one else joins in, I'll throw myself from Rick's Rooftop in shame. :) or just have a cocktail to drown my pain.

I just got Anne McCaffreys', The Skies of Pern, so far so good.

Anyone else?

Kit

Drawing Down the Moon -- Margot Adler
Witchcraft Theory and Practice -- Ly De Angeles
Black Dog -- a murder mystery novel, I can't recall the author
The Hobbit
Jupiter's Bones -- Faye Kellerman

Right now I'm re-reading "The Talisman" by Stephen King and Peter Straub, and then I will re-read "The Black House", same authors.

"The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Klay" by Michael Chabon

I just finished "The Fellowship Of The Rings." CAN'T WAIT for the movie. Now, I'm in the process of reading LOTS of books.

"The Witching Hour-Anne Rice
Memnoch The Devil-Same
Rainbow Six-Tom Clancy
Without Remorce-Same
Sum Of All Fears-Same
Debt Of Honor-Same

Although, I'm now concentrating on "The Witching Hour." Tom Clancy is TOO political,(and, technical.) I find myself having to look things up in the Enc., more than read.

Whoops, I lied.

I forgot that since I already read the Talisman books, I decided to skip over them and read the new book I got from Amazon.com today.

"Skipping Christmas" By John Grisham.

Advanced training manual for military an police snipers. Maj. Plaster
Hell's Angel by Sonny Barger

A Universe of Consciousness by Gerald Edelman and Giulio Tononi

The Moral Animal by Robert Wright

I'm trying to avoid getting useless gifts like sweaters for Christmas so I need some good books on list for Santa. Does anyone have any good non-fiction recommendations?

a good read I'm sure

One of the things I am reading at the moment is a manual on interrgation. eye-opening stuff.
Very cool too.
I would have wanted to be a sniper
my eyes are not that great though.

Laurel, I agree. It is a really good book. It's already changed the way I look at my own motivations. It argues persuasively (to me at least) that the free will is just an evolutionarily-imposed necessary myth, but that all of our behavior is determined by a combination of our heredity and our experiences.

I'm sure the libertarians on the board would just love it. ;)

A Killer Among Us-can't remember the author

True life crime story.. about a man who has his wife killed in Missouri in the 90's

One before that was Shawshank Redemption.. before that.. James Pattersons series.. Kiss the girls.. Jack and Jill... Along came a spider..

The last book I read was titled " Good in bed" & while many might think it is about sex its not ... it tells the wonderful story of a woman & how she faces the issues in her life , the main one being her weight & how she learns to accept herself ... it was a very good book.

As for reading @ this very moment I am stuck reading such topics as " kidney function " and " external breathing " ... etc ... :( ... this reading is for one of my classes.

I can not WAIT till the semester is over so I can go book shopping and find a wonderful read. :)

Welcome to the BB, SpanishEyes. :)

And do you mean to tell me you don't like reading about osmotic gradients and the glomerular filtration rate? ;)

Thank you Oliver .. for the welcome. :)

And to tell you the truth I find the kidney and all its functions to be exciting and simply amazing !!!!

Okay I am obviously lying when I say that & the answer is no ... I so dislike osmotic gradients and the glomerular filtration rate ... Yuck !!! :)

You have there!

Hunter S. Thompson is quite a talent.

Catch-22 is one of my favorite books. See the movie if you never have, not as good as the book(what movie made from a book ever is?)

Kurt Vonnegut is from my home state of Indiana..I'm glad to claim him.
Breakfast of Champions is really
great. My favorite title of his is
"Jailbird"

Current book

"The Girls he Adored", by Jonathan Nasaw---psychological thriller. I go for escapism in my reading. Nothing too brain taxing. This one is a little spooky tho.
