If i can chime in. You want to use a low melting point wax. Something like a soy wax should be good. I’d avoid anything with a scent. They might have allergies to it. They might not know it.

Did you get the "BDSM candles" or the regular ones? I am a firm believer that the concept of BDSM candles is a total rip off and much prefer regular utility paraffin candles. Not scented, no glitter, no beeswax, not painted, just the ones you would use if your electricity went out.
Yes, the bdsm ones are marketed as "safe", but who guarantees their safety? I would take predictability over untested safety any day of the week.

You can always regulate temp by calibrating the distance - the further away the candle is from the skin, the more time the wax has to cool down when dripped. As for the colors, you can get utility candles in any color for about $1 a piece.
