Greetings fellow denizens of the AH! As "winner" *cough* with the most correct guesses in the last voice challenge, it was suggested that I host this one. If that's acceptable with everyone, I've decided to do just that.

Per protocol establish with the previous voice guessing threads, PM to me, no later than May 2nd, a story that I will then post anonymously to a story thread. When all stories are in on the 2nd, I'll provide a list of entrants and sometimes educated, sometimes random, guessing as to the author will occur. Fun, hijinks, and flirting will then ensue.

  • The entries for this week's challenge should be no more than 800 words.
  • The theme: Something that is broken. (With thanks to TheEarl for the theme suggestion.)
  • Entries may be erotic or non-erotic, as long as they involve "something that is broken."
  • Challenge is open to everyone - oldies, newbies, and all those in between are welcome!
  • Deadline for submitting a story to this challenge is 11:59pm EST on May 2nd.

You can find this week's submitted voice entries here.

Luck to all,

Yui

Edited to add an explanation for those who aren't familiar with this challenge:

This idea grew out of Lou's "Voice (Writerly Thread)" thread. The idea: Once a week (give or take), someone will play moderator for that week's challenge and choose a topic.

Writers who want to play will PM a 800-word (max) piece of prose on the topic of the week to the moderator, who will post it anonymously on that week's thread. At the end of the week, the moderator will identify the authors and we will try to match the names to the story.

To quote Imp, "It's a challenge to see if we can identify who wrote what -- if we truly have a recognizable 'voice.'"

Edited 05/03/04 to add:

The voice challenge submissions for the week of 04/26/05 are now closed. Below is a list of participants in order of submission (not really, ;) I'm fluffy, not dumb).

The voice guessing submissions thread can be found here, and the guess card thread can be found here.

Participants (plus two extra names to keep it interesting):

angelicminx
BlackShanglan
CharleyH
cheerful_deviant
English Lady
hmmnmm
Kassina
Samandiriel
TheEarl

Luck to all,

Yui

Question? The only time I tried to submit something for one of these was way back when Tate was taking submissions, and it wouldn't go through because my file was too big for her box.

So...where and how do we submit it, and if we do and it's rejected by your e-mail program, will you help us?

Hi Kassina,

I'll be happy to help you in anyway I can! This particular entry is 800 words or less, so size shouldn't be a problem; however if you have any issues, I have three email accounts and between the three of them, we should be able to figure something out. You should be able to cut and paste your entry into a PM without running into size problems, but if for any reason that doesn't work, we'll try something else.

I do hope you will play! ;)

Luck,

Yui

Well done Yui! I'm looking forward to it.

And I look forward to reading your entry. :cathappy:

Ok, I'm going to enter this time.

Now, I need somebody to get out the cattle prod and make me WRITE!

I knew buying this old cattle prod on Ebay was a good idea....

*big wicked grin*

Oh, now wait a minute. This isn't about submitting audio files, is it?

I'm confused.

I'll try y'all. I'm busier than a one legged man in an ass kicking contest right now though... sigh.

So sorry Yui... drafting a novel, thinking about revisions on the other, and being nagged to resurrect that other story. Yeah, THAT one

Never!

Plenty of pokey stick & whipping ones, I guess they'll have to do. And when all else fails, get out the trout. http://addis-welt.de/smilie/smilie/kampf/trout2.gif

It's okay, Carson...you don't have to play my game. http://www.addis-welt.de/smilie/smilie/japan/96949.gif

Hey! Get off my smileys!

But you're right, some of them just look wrong. It's the Japanese angle; everything must be so cute that it's… Just. Too. Much. ;)
