I went slumming in Bowie this weekend...or rather Friday to Saturday. I haven't lived here long enough to know that I was slumming ::vicious smiles::

They close down the streets for less. A gathering is in order!

~M~

Boy, that's taking the initiative...we haven't kicked around the idea of a local Lit-together for a while...'course, someone always has to volunteer to organize it!;)

Hey, va_angel...I'm pretty sure that she's referring to the National Mall (the big stretch of grass between the Capitol and the Lincoln Memorial)...I wonder if security will affect where it's held? I saw that they moved the location of the Smithsonian Kite Festival this weekend due to security precautions....

the mall is the area between the washington monument and the white house. It is downtown DC. I actually live in Arlington. Tai Chi day is at the end of the Cherry Blossom Festival and their will be people from the area schools and then some. It has nothing to do with Lit. It would be a great day to come out and see some great people and maybe do some yourself.

Thank you for welcoming me and the comment of my AV. ~M~

Don't think the shopping at the National Mall is as good as at Tysons...but then, if you need to find the National Mall, look for the object in my AV (the object on the right, in case you're confused).

Pretty good thanks. Oh and by the way thank you for your input on that one thread. I really appreciated it. How are things down your way?

You are very welcome, mv. I'm sorry they (she) was being so ignorant or malicious to pick on your story alone. Also sorry that someone did that 1 vote on all your stories. Some folks just don't like it when others are better at something than they are, just petty folks. (sigh).

Things good here, just got home from dance class. :D I do love that class. :D

what kind of dance Angel? I love dancing. Great exercise too. ~M~

I'm studying middle eastern dance, aka, belly dance. :) been studying since April of last year, w/ approx 2 months off for the teacher to have a baby, Jan of this year. Oh, this is def. good exercise, esp. if you are doing the floor routines. YIKES!!!. LOL

I have a friend in Florida who does belly dancing. When she started she wanted to lose 20 lbs...she has exceeded that just by doing the belly dancing two nights a week. She didnt even change her diet. Glad to hear you find it fun. Too bad I don't have any more time in my already too busy life. ~M~

Belly dancing is becoming very popular, again. Those into aerobics are taking it up as a new activity, and those that arn't really sporty folks but want something fun to do, are also enjoying it. Many men here are not very fond of it, yet, but in the middle eastern cultures, men participate w/ it also. It's also not as rigorious as aerobics or most sporting stuff, it's more creative.

Glad your friend was successful w/ her weight goal. It does help develop muscles (esp. in the stomach w/ the rolls) that help to burn fat. :)

Y'know, I was just wondering that...can't imagine that there are too many men in your class (not that I'm likely to sign up for belly dancing lessons, either!). I wonder how long it will be until belly dancing is an Olympic sport (since dancesport I think will be an exhibition sport in the next summer Olympics, and I believe that bridge is angling to be one also...).

Hiya Roman,

Not overly many men in the class, for sure. Tho, the teachers hubby did come on an occassion to participate back before she had the baby and he became the sitter. :)

Now, w/ my sca group, we once had a guy who lost a contest and had to belly dance at feast. :D

Now, the thing is, when will the guys wise up and realize, "a room full of wmn belly dancing" AND "they could be the only man in class"....hmmm......might be worth the effort. :D (hell, I've heard of guys taking other "womanly" classes to be near them, why not dance?? :)

I've heard of that strategy--I know of guys who take dance as a means of meeting lots of women in need of a partner--but mostly ballroom dancing, not belly dancing! I guess that in the U.S., belly dancing is just overwhelmingly associated with women.

Geez, when do you find time to participate in SCA? Talk about a full schedule!
