Bumped into this on a gloomy night dive. It hovered up off the bottom and came over to check me out. It let me swim with it for a while and allowed me to “pet” it two times. After a while it got bored of me and went into a defensive posture to tell me, “we’re done here, go away.” I did.
Tigger is right, it’s the eye of a cuttlefish, about the size of a cement block.
And you wouldn’t know it from the picture but there was a lot of intelligence in that eye.
