The video game thread

Jesus Christ!

I miss a few hours to go to work, and look what happens!
Okay, I'm going to try to catch up a bit.
Cibo- Duh, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City of course
I must say that Final Fantasy Tactics is also one of my very favorite FF's
I have a place in my heart for the Final Fantasy theme song...it's one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard.
Tekken is good and all...but you should really try Virtua Fighter 4...it's amazingly good, and tons of depth. Almost Soul Calibur...calibre hehe.
And....Shenmue II is out...kind of...you can buy it at most video game stores imported from europe.
Also, just to throw this out so I can be made fun of...I cried at the end of Final Fantasy 8 & 9...and absolutely bawled at the end of FF 10:(

(I think I gotta bump up that crew thread so people understand why exactly we are following each other with ghetto slang hehe)

GTA this and GTA that...

I long for a world like it used to be when hockey games were all that ever mattered!

...

Ok so it was never like that ever, but sill...

i played VF4 its just like the old ones with a few new people, still dont like it

Nope everyone is wrong. Well you are sorta right with vice city...but I'm talking about a better game than that on the better system! :D

Hmmm....let's see...I'm guessing by the better system you mean xbox....so...it has to be:

1. DOA extreme volleyball
2. BMX XXX
3. Panzer Dragoon Orta, but that got delayed
4. Steel Battalion
5. Toejam and Earl 3
6. (most likely) Star Wars: Knights of the old Republic

1. DOA extreme volleyball
2. BMX XXX

Video game T & A ... How lame is that?? I can just see it now.. bunch of pre-teens trying to play a game with one hand and pocket pool with the other..

eeewwwww.. I just grossed myself out... :(

I'm looking forward to DOA Vollyball actully.

And I'll probably just rent BMX XXX.

Shenmue 2 is looking like a good game.. I didn't realize that was out on the 29th. I thought it was later.

Looks like a game where you'd have had to play Shenmue to begin with though.. Hopefully thats not the case.

Nah, from what I've read, they give you a back story so you know what's going on before the start of Shenmue 2. Oh...and I sure am glad you saw that sign out front of Babbages Pez....I sure wouldn't want someone to whisper anything in your ear about it;)

Sounds like it's pretty straight forward in number 2 anyway..

Eh, as cool as it is there are so many other games I'll be busy with. Have I mentioned that NHL 2K3 is one I am looking forward to owning?

And btw.. tonight the Bears led by A** M******** (real name ;) ) at QB improved to 12 and 3 and all but locked up the NFC North in NFL 2K3 with a game to go...

It'll be the first full football season I complete playing pre-season to post and going into an off season. I'm pretty damn proud of myself!

Ya, they will give you a back story and especially if you watch the movie trailer they have on the xbox page. Can't wait for that to come out, the first one kicked ass on the DC.

And win? Didn't know it was a contest. :p

Since Timesplitters 2 is coming out on all the consoles, I just have to say that if anyone's into first person shooters, they should check it out. From what I hear, you can create your own levels. I just think that would be amazingly cool...imagine making whatever you want....factory settings, out door settings...the imagination is the limit.

I have Time Splitters 2 rented right now. You're gonna have to come over and play it SB. Saturday before we all go out. Sound good? :D

I'd really much rather play with....errr...play something else...but I suppose if you want we can play videogames;)

I am so out of the loop with video games, but my faves were....

Elemental Gearbolt for the original PSX

and

Panzer Dragoon for the Sega Saturn

Can anyone relate?

Whoever asked about Code Veronica for the PS2,its a great game.

Though the one for the Dreamcast was my favorite, even without the extra movie bits.

It pissed me off that NGC wasn't DVD compatible...and still isnt yet!

Part of the reason that GC is not DVD compatible is due to piracy issues. Also one of the big reasons Nintendo was one of the last to go to the disc systems.

Example : I have a friend who has a Playstation. He has over 200 games for it. I believe he bought less than 10 of them. The rest he downloaded off the internet and burned onto CD's. I happen to disagree with this practice. I do not think it is fair to the people who worked long and hard on developing the games. Simply because they are now cheated of seeing any money from him. People can try and rationalize it by saying that at $50 a pop, from the people who DO purchase the games at retail stores make up for the ones who pirate the games, but that is pure and simple bullshit.

His response to my complaint is that I use LimeWire to download music. However .... I do not burn the songs onto CD's, I use it to find music I can not find anywhere else, or to check out artists I am interested in before laying down money for CD I only like on song on. IMHO this differs greatly from burning video games onto a CD for myself and my friends.

Anyway .... back to the topic of Nintendo and DVD's. It is highly unlikely that Nintendo will ever be DVD compatible unless there is a surefire way to avoid piracy. That is why the game discs are so small on the GC.

Right now in our house we have 3 DVD players. What the hell do I need 3 DVD players for ??? I can only watch one at a time anyway. This was not a selling point for a system to me. Give me good solid games with great ground breaking graphics and sounds. THAT is what I am looking for.

If I am shelling out $50 for a game, I damn well want my moneys worth. I was greatly disappointed in some of the PS2 titles early on. Bouncer is a perfect example. Great game. Cool story line, but before I knew it .... it was over !!!!! I really felt cheated.

That is why I like the RE series so much. And Devil May Cry. I want some games with replay value. Eternal Darkness is a great game for the GC.

Nintendo has a reputation for being slow to release titles. But when they do finally lay their offerings on the table.... the games are solid. I can not wait for the new Zelda. And I am really wanting to pick up Kingdom Hearts.
