The video game thread

yea that was really proper, i love GTA3, Omnimusha:warlords, NBA street, and of course Smackdown:Just Bring It, i cant wait till i can get Shut Your Mouth, and also how can i forget *SLAP!* Tekken 4

I was really disappointed at Tekken 4...I'm a big Tekken Tag fan, and I've smashed it out in the arcades, and when I played Tekken 4 I was really disappointed. Slower, not much innovation, and just nowhere near as high adrenaline as Tag.

I gotta get some new games for my GC, it's just been collecting dust for the last couple of days because I've been so busy. Next up are Eternal Darkness and Monkey Ball 2. Also I've lent my beloved GBA to my sister, so I haven't played that in a month either.

Need....games....

Tekken 4 is really really sweet but I still think TTT is a better game and is my fav of the series. But the whole Tekken series has always been kick ass.

I can also say that I've been stuck playing F1 2002 umm.. A LOT! damn this game is fun. Me being super F1 fan helps a lot also *L*

Actually TTT is the only Tekken game I like.....I wasn't a huge fan of Tekken 3, and I only played it to practice the chracters for TTT. (I only play Tag in the arcades since I'm too poor to get a PS2)

The only thing that annoys me about the arcade is that once you beat the game you need to pay again, you can't just keep going 'till you get defeated. People keep challanging me but they normally loose so my .50 usually goes a long way. Until I fight the computer that is and then I beat the game then have to pay again. Woe is me.

Sexy-girl - Anyone can beat me online at most games due to my 56k connection... I died 3 times in Unreal Tournament before I actually moved... hehe.

But I bet I'd give you a run for your money when it comes to Doom :D (I'm the Doom guru of my area, on both PC & PSX :)).

Eagle - Yeah, same here, I mean Smackdown 2 was great, except it wasn't a wrestling game, it was essentially a beat em up... you fell through the Hell In A Cell and bounced back up... Which is why WM2000 is so much better (not played NM yet), it's not too slow, but it's a deliberate pace, and if you're hurt, you show it, a well made game there.

And as for the Zelda thing... well I'm just playing Ocarina Of Time (I know I know :p), and it's excellent, however the GC Zelda game does look cartoony, I say go back to how they had Ocarina Of Time, or even the originals, they were good enough, on the GC you could go back to the old game, and just have a plot that lasted a whole year to complete... that would be a game worth my cash :D.

Tag competion is pretty tough down here....I almost entered the best league in London to try out my skills, but I couldn't make the day it was held. According to my buddies I'd be around halfway though. Not too bad for a guy who'd only been playing a couple of months!

Come to think about it, if I'd saved all the money I'd spent on Tag, I'd probably be able to afford a PS2...

Spaceboy--love your av :)

I am not that much into video games...I guess my all time favorite would be Bust-a-move. I kick ass on that game. Another favorite that I don't see anymore was Attax. Very cool game.

I am, however, an avid pen and paper RPGer and I play EverQuest. Have played lots of different genres of PnP and am currently in a game that started out as basic Whitewolf, shifted into Adventure, and is currently masquerading as a 3rd ed. D&D. Try and figure that one out!

My all time fav PnP game would have to be Shadowrun. I would love to see some company pick that game up, revamp the rules, and release it again. Gawd that game kicks total ass. Oh well back to video games.

Here is an interesting question for you lit vid gamers... what do you consider some video game flops?

I really didn't like the first Silent Hill for PSX... Iron and Blood: Warriors of Ravenloft isn't worthy to be a coaster (and I currently have at least three AOL cds serving as coasters), WCW Nitro.. hell the entire WCW series for the PSX (not N64) sucked the big one.

flops? Oh here we go...

Vigilante 8 2nd Offense (the first one ruled, the second one bombed).
All PSX WCW games, EXCEPT WCW Vs The World (that WAS a great game).
Any F1 game on the PSX after '97

I'll think up more later, however the biggest flop of all time can only go to the one game that there are more copies of in the desert... namely...

E.T. on the Atari!

Quite possibly the biggest game flop in history.

But then does anyone wannt talk about the 3DO? ;).

I love video games name it I've probably played it, RPG's are my favorites but i love any game. I have played on many systems and so far playstations and CPU's offer the most diversaty of gaming genres. Can you think of any games that in your opinion completly flopped?

Game flops: Golf Tycoon, Sim Island, Sim Tower, anything on the Sega Saturn, and Sega CD, The Sims ohh wait that was a huge success well the game sucks anyway why have a make believe life when you should go out and get a real one

I'm not sure what the rules are on linking other sites, but I have to link to this site, purely because of all the gaming stuff... anyone out there who liked the computer game tunes, go here - http://remix.overclocked.org/index.php and you can listen to remixes of some of the songs, and believe me, they OWN (there's even a jazzed up version of Eyes On Me, which is kinda cool :)).

and anyone who likes comics, you may go to - http://www.reallifecomics.com for a comic that is about a geek and his friends (and is always hilarious as hell :D)

Thanks LD! Very cool site!!

NHL 2001 had a very cool remix version of "Here We Go" by BC band Templar and it took me until a few months ago to find it on the net.

That is the other thing I love about Xbox.. You can save music, then play it as a game's soundtrack if available - like on Project Gotham Racing.

SPEAKING of NHL games...i truly believe that NHL 96 on Sega was the greatist videogame made for that system. I could spend hours, hell, i STILL spend hours playing that game. No other hockey game has come close to the fun level as that one for me.

No problem, it is a hell of a site, the best tune I've had off it so far would be a tie between these two:

Sonic 2 - Tripping On Ecstasy

and

FF7 - RedXIII Redux Remix (I think that's the spelling)

both are excellent and worthy of a d/l. :)

I didn't like NHL 96 a whole lot.. NHL 98 was a game I loves based on the intro movie alone. (Are you afraid of the masked.. man???)

LD - Thanks! I'll check those out.. I downloaded a bunch or remixes from games I used to love and played lots.. Once I check them, I'll go onto other games I don't have. :)

Hehe, same thing as me, I went through games I have/had and then got a few from games I didn't have :).

*bump*

Looks like Spaceboy's little thread that could has in fact taken off :)
