Entering the store Kat was happy to see that the girls were indeed in the store, and looked to see what they were trying on, and starts telling them about the barn dance comming up in a few days.

Looking over at Josh she smiled and said. Lets get you some cloths it looks like the store will be closinging soon and we dont have much time left.

George & Sam

George listened to Sam reminiscing about the times she and Katherin used to come to this spot when a meteor shower was forecast to watch them falling across the sky. She told him how she missed the stars when she lived in the city because of the street lights the stars were dimmed.

“That’s one of the things I like about living on a ranch, you can always find somewhere that you can sit and look at the stars. No hustle and bustle that you get in the city, there’s always time tomorrow to do something if it’s not urgent,”

He remembered the short time he’d spent in a town where everybody was trying to do everything at once and none of the things where actually getting done.

"George, what do you want from the future? I mean like in ten years where or what would you like to be doing?"

George was surprised at the question, he was thinking about maybe a week or two ahead and how they’d be feeling about each other. Here was Sam asking him about the future ten years ahead, he’d never thought about that far ahead before.

Of course now he was a partner of the ranch he had to start thinking what lay ahead even if it didn’t involve Sam in his life though he hoped it would, and he meant more than just partners in the ranch.

“I haven’t thought that far ahead Sam, I normally have trouble thinking more than a week or two ahead things can change so quickly. If you’re talking about us, I’d like us to be together, more than just partners in the ranch, but you’ve got to be sure that it’s what you want before that can happen.”

George loved the feel of her body resting against his but knew he had to be careful, they couldn’t get carried away like they had at their lunch break. He wasn’t sure he could control himself if they started that all over again.

Smiling back at Kat Josh says "Lead the way darlin" asking her if she thought he should wear a western suit or go wth jeans and a nice shirt?
oh and a new belt, hat, and boots would be good too cant wear these work boots and hat to a dance.

Kat laughed and smiled as she awncerd Josh's question.. A nice shirt, jeans and boots hun its not a wedding just a dance. Katherin watched Josh look through the shirts and Jeans as well as the hat's and boots. Giving her opinion when he asked.

Looking through some of the clothing herself she found a white pesent blouse, black jean's, and a black female stedson cowboy hat. She had a necklace and earings at home to wear with the clothing when it was time.

Smiling at Josh, and the other two girls after paying for her items she said. You guys ready to go?

Buying clothes for the dance

With Kat's help Josh is soon able to put together a respectable outfit of a Black Stetson, black roper boots, black wranglers and a black and silver western belt topped off with a dark blue shirt to compliment her blue eyes. waiting his turn Josh pays for his items and joins Kat taking her bags to carry for her as they wait for the girls to finish their shopping. Smiling Josh says, "Ready when you are darlin." Then blushes slightly when he realizes he called Kat darlin within earshot of the girls. not that he cared if they knew he liked her he just didnt want to embarrass her he stands there quietly as he waits for them.

Sam & George

“I haven’t thought that far ahead Sam, I normally have trouble thinking more than a week or two ahead things can change so quickly. If you’re talking about us, I’d like us to be together, more than just partners in the ranch, but you’ve got to be sure that it’s what you want before that can happen.”

I couldn't help feeling the elation George's words had brought to me, but the fact that he was waiting on me helped greatly. For once someone was thinking about how I felt, the question was.. How did I feel? I liked George and couldn't even think about not having George around. Actually I knew my feelings had grown more then just like, but I wasn't sure that I would have called it love. Was there such a thing as love at first sight?

Snuggling down into George's warmth I sit and think once more about his words. "I was thinking I would love to see if Kat would allow me to build a smaller house out here. It would still be on the land but at the same time maybe just a get away place, somewhere that one could go for weekends and such. In ten years I would like to be married again, maybe have a child or two, ten years isn't much time for things like that. But I would like to have my life straightened out, to where I have some standings of my own. This way I am never empty handed for my husband, whether it be you and I or someone else and I."

Time though was something I had plenty of, no matter what I was going to do. I would take my time at it, there would be no rush in it anywhere. This thing between George and I it was special and I didn't want to mess things up.

"As for you and I.. Well I would enjoy that very much, I like you George, I honestly think you have captured my heart. We have only known each other for a few days, and the feelings that I already have scare me. I don't really know how you look at things, I thought I knew Tom. I didn't and that was a mistake, you talk and your talk is so sweet and draws me like a moth to a flame. But.. Well what do you want from your other half, the woman you want to spend the rest of your life with?"

Holding my breath I sit and wait to see what George says, concerned that I might have said to much. But thinking it is the only way that I am going to be as sure as I can be in anything that I did. Just by asking and figuring things out by the words and honesty that they gave to me in their answers. Love wasn't just something that came along every day but was built in years, lifetimes, no one knew for sure about love, just that it happened and it was right when it did. Thats all I wanted to know, was this right, did George and I have a chance where as Tom and I hadn't, do to his impractical ideas of the perfect wife.

Kat smiled enjoying Josh's endearment and Thank you hun as he took her bags for her. Seeing the girls were ready they all headed back to the Jeep, and drove back to the ranch.

On the way back Kat's thoughts kept alternating between thoughts of Josh's kiss and what his body felt like against her's, and wondering how Sam and George were doing.

Pulling up in the drive Kat hopped out and Smiling took her bags. It looks like Carolyn and the other's have turned in for the evening so we will have to be quiet when we go in. Kat said noticing that the lights in the house were off acept for the porch light.

Turning to Josh as they walked up to the house she said. If you will give me a moment to take my bags inside i'll walk with you over to the bunk house before i retire.

Smiling at Kat as they get out of the jeep Josh replies. "I'll be right here when you return."
Gathering his purchaces and taking a seat on the porch swing, Josh waits for her to return.

While he waits Josh smiles at the memory of the way Kat felt in his arms and how wonderful the kiss was they shared.

Kat held the door open for the other girls to go in the house and quietly closed the door behind them. Good night girls see ya in the morning. She whispered as she moved twords her room to put her bags on the bed.

Slipping quietly back down the stairs Kat slipped back out the front door and smiled glad that Josh had waited for her like he said he would. Hi you ready? she said and smiled as he stood and they walked together twords the bunk house.

I had a good time today Josh, and i am looking forward to the barn dance. I figure i can tell the others aobut it in the morning at breakfast, and then When Sam and George return we can let them know. What do you think? Kat said surprising herself a little.

Asking Josh what he thought was something new for her Kat never asked for anyone else's opinon save for Sam's simply because she was used to doing everything on her own, and she had to wonder if by asking Josh's opinon that it ment she was finnaly loosing up some as Sam was forever telling her she needed to do.

George & Sam

As George listened to Sam, he was glad that he’d stopped things when he had, she was already asking him what sort of things he’d expect from a wife or partner. Although he liked the idea he wasn’t ready to make that type of commitment just yet, there was a long way to go before he started thinking along those lines. He was sure that it wouldn’t be long before they were sleeping together once they returned to the ranch, but did that really mean a long term commitment, he didn’t think it did.

What did he want from a long term partner or wife, just somebody to be there to listen when he needed them to, or talk when they needed to. Basically all he would ask of any woman was to be herself, he didn’t want somebody who put on airs thinking she was somebody that she wasn’t. He was just a common cowhand, alright he’d been lucky and bought a part share of the Ranch, but he was still a cowhand first, although he now had more responsibility.

George smiled as he answered Sam.
“What do I want in a partner, I don’t really know never having been in the position to have to consider it. She have to be down to earth, I can’t stand women who think they’re somebody special, after all I’m only a cowhand so why should she think she’s special. I like the way you just muck in and help when there’s a job to be done, but that doesn’t mean I’d expect you to do it all the time, nor would I stop you helping.”

George thought about what he’d said, he knew she was trying to find out more about him but she knew more about him than most people who’d known him for years.

“You’re trying to find out more about me, I am what you see, no more and no less. I don’t hide behind fancy words and I don’t make promises that I can’t keep. I do my job to the best of my ability and that’s me. If you want a commitment off me towards yourself, forget it for the moment, as I said I don’t make promises that I can’t keep. If you want us to get a lot closer then yes we can do that, then maybe when you’re sure we can make any commitment you like.” George told her with a big grin on his face as he leant over and kissed her hard, breaking the kiss before she could get too carried away.

Josh and Kat

Snapping out of his thoughts and smiling as Kat comes back out the door and asks "Hi are you ready?" Standing Josh replies, "yes ma'am." Walking toward the bunkhouse with Kat at his side she tells him that she had had a good time today and was looking forward to the barn dance.

Smiling Josh replies, "I did too thank you for inviting me I can't wait either just hope i don't step on your toes too often" he says with a grin.

Kat surprises Josh abit when she asks his opinion about telling the girls about the dance over breakfast and George and Sam when they return from their fence scouting trip. It had been a long time since someone asked his opinion about something other than horseflesh or cattle and it felt good smiling Josh replies, "I think that's a wonderful idea darlin."

Josh blushes again glad she cant see him blush in the moonlight when he realizes he called her darlin again.

Arriving at the bunkhouse sooner than he had hoped Josh looks at his watch and at Kat not wanting their evening to end yet he asks "I know it's late but would you like to come in for a cup of coffee?" Josh opens the door to the bunkhouse as he awaits her answer.

I'd love a cup hun thanks.. I am not really tired anyway. Uhually i am up going over the books at this time. Kat said with a smile glad that he had invited her in for a bit.

Stepping past him as he held open the door for her Kat looked around the bunk house, automaticly making notes in her mind about what needed reparied.

Catching her self and reolizing what she was doing she blushed a little embarassed, and smiled as she looked at Josh and tucked a strand of hair that had fallen out of her braid behind her ear. I am sorry i cant seem to help myself i am always constanly checking to see what needs done or fixed. Sam is forever telling me i need to unwind.

Josh smiles as Kat accepts his invitation steppong in behind her and closing the door he catches himself admiring her again.

Entering with her Josh notices Kat looking around blushing as he notices the place is still a mess he picks up some stuff from a chair and offers her a place to sit "I am sorry i cant seem to help myself i am always constanly checking to see what needs done or fixed. Sam is forever telling me i need to unwind." Kat says .Smiling at her he says its ok he understands that she just wants the ranch to be a success.

Making his way to the little kitchen area Josh puts a pot of coffee on and rejpins Kat saying' "She is right though you do need to relax you have a good crew and you don't have to worry so much it will be ok." Josh sits on a small two seat sofa next to Kat's chair as they wait for the coffee to brew

I know its just that if Sam handnt come home..... Well then i would never have been able to pay off the bank, and all i would have been able to offer you and the others until it forclosed would be room and board. Kat said looking over at Josh as he sat down on the couch.

Laughing slightly she shook her head and said. Sorry i am doing it again.. Lets talk about you tell me some more about yourself. um.... that is if you want too.

Josh smiles at her laugh its ok no need to apologize.
"Hmm... About me what would you like to know about this texas cowboy? Josh smiles at Kat as he waits for her to answer.

Kat smiled gald that Josh understood and didnt seem to be running away from her because she couldnt help but be the way she was. Well actually i have a few but well start simple... do you have any family? she asked looking into his eyes.

Kat listened to Josh as he talked enjoying the sound of his voice and the way he used his hands when he spoke, and Kat wondered what Josh would think of her if she just leaned forward and started kissing him, but decided against it, and then remembering how they had eneded up in the park as well as what Sam was forever telling her Kat thought what the hell.. Leaning forward she kissed Josh slowly and deeply.

Josh tells Kat about his family 3 sisters and parents down in texas as he does she leans in and begins to kiss him wrapping her in his arms he pulls her close and slowly deeply returning her kiss.

Unable to resist enjoying the feel of Josh's arms around her as he holds her Kat moves in a little closer slidding her own arms around his waist. Slowly breaking the kiss Kat looked into his eyes and smiled softly. I am sorry i couldnt stop thinking of the park and i cant help myself now..I'll leave if you want me too?but if you dont i cant promise not to keep my lips or anything else to myself. She said half teasing and half meaning excactly what she said. Kat wanted to be with Josh but didnt want to scare him away eather and she had a feeling that he was doing the same thing.

Looking down into her eyes as she breaks their kiss apologizing and asks him if he wants her to leave? Telling him if she stays she can't promise to keep her lips or hands to herself. Pulling her closer gently tightening their embrace as he places his finger across her lips he says, "Shhhh no apologies needed I've wanted to kiss you ever since the park this afternoon and I would love for you to stay. If you want that is" Josh says as he leans in whispering says."I'm glad I won't be the only one not able to control my lips and hands" As he presses his lips to Kat's renewing their kiss Josh slids his hands up and down her back gently pulling her body close to his as he traces her lips softly with his tongue.

Feeling him pull her closer and gently tighten their embrace Kat instinctivly knew that he wanted her to stay before he layed his finger across her lips and spoke. "Shhhh no apologies needed I've wanted to kiss you ever since the park this afternoon and I would love for you to stay. If you want that is"

Still looking up at him as he moves his finger and she smiled softly as he leand down and whispered ."I'm glad I won't be the only one not able to control my lips and hands" before Kat could reply she felt his lips against hers and his hands gliding gently up and down her back.

Relaxing in his arms she forgot what it was she was even going to say, and slid her arms out from around his waist and then up slowly over his arms and sholders her fingers sliding gently into his hair and tugging it slightly.

After getting all of my bags up to my room I ruturned to the kitchen to ask Meg if she would like to have a cup of hot tea and maybe sit up in my room and talk about the dance and our things. As we make the cups of tea I stop to look up at meg and tell her I had alot of fun and I really enjoyed spending the day with her. I hope we can do it again

George's kiss left me breathless but his words had hurt my feelings, although I wasn't going to admit that to anyone but myself. Later... Later I would examine things closer and see if maybe I had come on a bit stronger then I had thought to..

"Thats perfect George I can handle that, since right now I couldn't make a commitment myself other then to be here and try. But yes I was wanting to know more about you, just you though.. I had been thinking future more along the lines of what you would like to see happen with the ranch and such.

Moving quietly from George's embrace I move over to where we had set out the bedrolls, looking once more at George before climbing into mine. "We better turn in for the night if we are going to make the last stretch of our trip tomorrow." Rolling over I pretend to prepare to sleep although my mind is rapidly running thoughts through my head.

"George, " Speaking softly rolling over to face him again. "I like you the way you are, just you." Smiling I roll back over placing my back to the fire and George, closing my eyes I wish for sleep to claim me quickly. My lips still wanting more of his touch.

George was saddened when Sam suddenly eased out of his arms and made her way to her bedroll. He sensed he'd done something wrong, but his intentions were all honest. Yes he wanted to sleep with Sam, but No he didn't want to rush her into anything that she might regret.

His whole body ached to hold her continuously, but he knew he had to take his time. He'd never ever thought about marriage, but a couple of days after meeting Sam the thought had entered his head. Just what kind of a spell did this girl have over him, he didn't mind the spell he just wanted her to be careful.

"Goodnight sam, sweet dreams," he said as he got into his own bedroll hoping that tomorrow would help them sort out their differences.
