The "MIND FUCK" Thread...

Some points on the shyness and Mind Fucks (although, Mind Fucks also meant confusing, misleading or otherwise fucking with someones head - oddly enough, I'm very good at confusing people too..wonder if theres a corrilation) Anyways, shyness:

While I enjoy the whole online experiance I've learned that it has to be mixed with some actual personal, real life, contact. It's a bit of a balancing act not to become too much of an online-geek.

I can also relate to your getting a public relations job, Arden. For me, if I know how to relate to the person, professionaly, say, it's easy to be relaxed. My dad's a helluva salesman, I think I inherited some of that. It's in being personal we both suck :p

Great thread...have to see about getting a cup of tea off you, Arden ...:rose:

Hehe... you are confusing, but I'll take a stab at it anyway!

My comment was meant to project that you might be able to hone verbal skills while not being next to the person you wish to say them to. When you are comfortable saying those things on the phone (moreso than online) you would be more confident to say them in person. A matter of getting used to hearing yourself say those things... until comfortable.

Mysticcal's comment was about something other than mind fucks. She related wonderful experiences with phone skills, but stated that the physical relationship didn't work out. That can fail for any reason, and may not have been related to their mind fuck sessions. That was real life playing a bad joke. Hell, we've all been there before.

I didn't have a PR position. I sold New & Pre-owned Ford cars and trucks, 60+ hours/6 days a week. as a single parent, no less) In dealing with customers, I had about 20 minutes tops to draw everything I needed to know about THEM out of their mouths. It was more of a method of time management, and being sure to hit all the bases to qualify if they could by, or what they could afford. Presenting the vehicles was a piece of cake, of course. But I had to work 5x harder than the guys did to get any respect. Had to know more, sell more, everything. It wasn't easy... but it paid well. :)

I finally walked out one day from being totally burned out on the hours and schedules. Still a great experience.

My dad was in sales too, he is a very quiet man. But, one that everyone respected. He falls into the extremely shy category, but was a very successful person. People trust the quiet ones...

This is why I fell in love with my boyfriend...I had just never put it into words. Nice thread. And I've got an awesome quotation in my signature that I added just before I read this thread!

I completely agree that people can be natural born mind-fucks. That they mysteriously know exactly what you want..for me it is in the voice too....The sound of a man's voice is so important me to me. The kind you hear and are immediately hypnotized by it. It just does something for you different then other people's voices.

And even though you don't touch, what they are describing whether in written word or voice you can almost feel it on your body. It's mind blowing and beyond intense. In ways more intense then them physically being there because if they were physically there it would be much easier to manipulate your body but to get into your mind is almost a form of control over you.

Great thread..thank you

Good thread Arden... I have to agree with Mbb, most men maybe...

Ok, I deserve to be blasted for that one.
*ducks an incoming icbm*

I think what I was trying too say is that men and women sometimes 'vary' in the way they focus on things, events, etc. I'm also generalizing that in telephone play, there would tend to be one that's good at leading, and another that follows. Not to say the order won't be switched around.

But what the heck would I know. I've only used phones for talking.

:)

No, you don't. That generalization wasn't horrible - just not always so.

Silly me, I only use phones for talking, too.

Flesh and blood is required for much else.

Had an S/O once - all that was required was touching the side of her neck . . . . Said that had never been like that before, either.

Hmmmm.

Anais Nin is good... the folks at Barnes & Noble recently told me that her books don't sell to the younger people, who prefer Ms. Rice's work.

:)

Ack!!! I'm younger and I love Nin! Rice is just...yuck. I tried to get into Rice, but I don't like her style. Nin's is so simple, yet so divine. Perhaps it's because no my age knows who Nin is. Or no one I know.

Was that before or after she was tied to the table?

Garrison Keller claimed to be very shy... and he hosted a nationally syndicated radio show and wrote a couple books at least...

do we have a working deffinition of shy here?

I haven't had a chance to read any Rice yet... I've just heard a lot of younger folks mention her, ans Barnes & Noble confirmed the data,

But yes, NIn did have a great storytelling way about her,

I've listened to Garrison Keillor's show off and on for over 20 years now. He's on every Saturday evening here. :)

I know he speaks of the shy folk a lot, but is it real or is it in keeping with the theme of his stories? As for he, himself, if he was shy, he is one of those who has successfully worked themselves through it by his repetitive stage performances.

Don't you think that shyness, instead of being an inborn trait, may truly be categorized as a fear? Fear is not inborn, but learned. If we learn to fear, and speculate that we learn to be shy, then why not work on overcoming it and be releived of the burden?

(We'll exclude panic disorders here, Ok?) LOL...

Love to get back to the basics here...

I don't mind being in the public eye, so long as I choose to be there... but when talking to someone personally, I become more shy. In effect, I don't reveal myself well to those around me, and performance - public or private - is interaction without revelation.

As for the topic at hand ~

And on the off chance you've not had such an encounter ladies...by all means, I wouldn't be a gentleman if I didn't offer to remedy that :D

Someone brought it to my attention that the intense emotional state we've been discussing here is very similar to what is known as "sub space" in some types of sex lifestyles...

Any comments from folks that have experienced this?

Don't know about sub space Areden, but...

There are two different kinds of talents required for a really good "MindFuck."

Some people can get into your head because they can "paint" a picture with words. Much as an artist crafts a canvas, the talented wordsmith can create a venue that one can get lost in. And there are many such talents herein.

However, there is another breed of cat (such as me,) who requires a dialogue. I need a real person to respond to, and who can respond to me. It doesn't have to be person to person (though that's the ideal,) but it does require someone at the other end.

I've been asked to do comic monologues for charity shows because I'm funny and entertaining. But I can't do that, because I have the ability to interact, not to do stand-up comedy.

Likewise, I've tried to write, erotica and other styles, but it's all too coarse. But put me in a chat, and I'll make you vibrate!!

I'm still working on my "threads style."

Ok, perhaps I'm not up on my sexual terminology here, but where's "Sub space" come from?

Oz, I certainly understand. I'm just shy in person, in either written text, such as my poetry (blatent-plug-police are gonna nail me for that one) or in chat I'm quick thinking and bold enough to write whatever might work...

IRL I'm just too quite

Funny! :p

You might find some dialogue on the term "sub space" on the BDSM boards here... if I had to try to relate, I'd tend to call it an altered mental state, due to many variables... many of which we've discussed above. There are other variables available.

I think I need some classes in chat 101! Just kidding!
