I was experimenting tonight. Fall flavors. First I made a caramel syrup on the stove and infused it with a vanilla bean and cinnamon. Then started Maki g drinks.

Dark rum, hazelnut liquor, apple cider and the syrup with cardamom bitters was the winner. But also played with orange liquor, walnut bitters, vodka, orange juice and lemon juice ingredients. Tomorrow when friends come over, I'm going to use the new syrup in Old Fashioneds too

I actually decant my red wine into a 125 ml beaker a glass at a time. When I can no longer make the wine go into the teeny tiny beaker neck, I know it's time to quit drinking.

Does that count as science?

I went beer shopping today. There's a beer out right now that I love and hasn't been made since 2012, so I picked up a case. I'm very excited about it. I have been very good conserving the stuff from 4 years ago though and still have a few bottles of that vintage left. It's a thick 18% stout that only gets better with age.

I went beer shopping today. There's a beer out right now that I love and hasn't been made since 2012, so I picked up a case. I'm very excited about it.
