The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

The outlook was brilliant for the Nuggets. The first game didn’t go all that well. The hopes diminished just a little. The second game turned into an embarrassment, and Murry threw in the towel, two times no less. And now we have to go to their town and play, I’ll have vodka and soda water please, coffee won’t do the trick!
Yeah, it's kind of like being a Buffalo Sabres fan, eh? I'm not much of a bb fan, grew up with hockey and loved the Avalanche while I was there in the big D, but to me the best hockey and baseball are being played in the minor leagues where the players are hungry and fighting to make it to the 'bigs'. Vodka and Soda coming up!

I have a collection of short stories that'll be 20,000ish words. I specialize in short stories. You should do well there. I haven't cracked the top five there in the last five months. 😱

Longer works do well. Cheaper prices are iffy things. Sometimes 0.99 works, and sometimes it doesn't. Haven't tried giving them away, as somehow it seems to defeat the idea of making a wee bit of money.
Wow girl! Save me some server space!
I'm trying to go with larger size entries, Book 2 will have 110k words and book 3 will probably go close to 200k and I'm writing series. I have two that I think will slip past my publisher as a standalone novel.

My publisher "demands" long form books in a series, and I have that capability, but I have a stand alone sci-fi novel I'd like to publish and a murder mystery that's at 42k words that I'll need to expand in a big way to make novel status.

Do you make your own covers or do you have a publisher doing that for you?

My publisher's wife does our covers (Mary's and Mine) edits and they put them up at all pay sites.

@Duleigh They aren't all that fussed about length. They use the standard erotic story price model: anything over 2500 but less than 5000 is $2.99, and 5000 to 8500 is 3.24. Over 8500 is 3.99 right up to novel length. Of course, they take their percentage out before they pay me. But, I'm not bitching, they earn their cut.

It's coffee time. We just fixed the sound issues, and we're about to pack up the kid and head back to OKC. He's been out of school to be here with me, and need to get him back and rested for tomorrow. But must have coffee first.

I have no problem with my publisher taking his cut, he's a good guy and he's promoting my books quite well. He got my 2nd book up this morning and I gave it to him on Saturday.

It looks like Mil's probably on the road now. Red Kitty's has been really great to me. The wife zoomed in on one of my stories and gave me some pointers early on about passive writing—or, rather, not using passive writing. I love the covers she makes. He's a great editor and has been helpful in sending me back work that needs to be reworked, with plenty of notes on how to improve it. You can't change how you write without someone pointing out what's wrong with it.

They could take more from me, and I wouldn't complain. They work hard. They do some email promotions through a site. I probably wouldn't need them for Bookapy; if they gave me the files, I could put them up. But it's much easier for them to do all the publications other than here and SOL.

Coffee sounds good.

I'm sore today. All that working I'm not use to it.
Working is bad for you, I did it my entire life and look where it got me - living in Florida tax free with a tax free income and free health care... Ok, it's not all bad, but there are downsides

Yeah, I went up and down the stairs to the booth twenty times, and at least that meant the day before. I'm not used to that kind of exercise. However, if I did that every day, my ass wouldn't be so fat.

We've had some decent weather today.
Hopefully, this will continue for a few days more.

Any Tea available please ?

PS. I've lost a story file. What's worse is that I cannot find it anywhere.
So if you know the story that features: [a] a man who (with his wife) likes three-somes by way of porn, and she has a cooperative friend called Connie, and [c] it's only a couple of pages long,
Do please let me know

Between chemo and last week's torrential rains in his County (hundreds of people flooded out of their homes) he might possibly have had damage/flooding to his 'new to him' home. If so, it might be quite some time before he resurfaces. He is somewhere around the Lake Livingston area based on facts he has 'dropped' from time to time.

Ok, Coffee is on, fresh & hot

I'm off to spend the day with the VA. Those lucky bastards.
