True, I have been off here for a week and I have auto-subscribe on so I was noticing all the dead subscribed threads. If they are active they will appear back on the front page

OK, apparently I need to update my info- I'm not in Houston anymore, I'm up in big bad DFW. Yes, I miss H-town, except in July, August, & September.

Howdy everyone.

Hope all you fellow Texans are doing well and enjoying this fine weather :)

Have a great day!!!

Warm, wet & sticky is great for a number of things. Riding a bicycle in the morning isn't one of them.

But at least we got a trace of precipitation.

Jenny, I hear from many of the native Texans up here in DFW that Houston is a cesspool and don'consider it part of the Lone Star State. I think they just don't like the out-of-towners who moved in.

Is it really that bad, other than traffic and a strong odor on the east side?

Glad to have a little relief from the heat today. Any new texans lurking about?

Where I live, we have stage 3 water restrictions and the towns always keep on about how we are 'this close' ( *does the pinching finger thing ) to a stage 4. The water supply lake is down a good 15 feet and not looking to get any better. The zebra mussels invaded Texoma so there's no relief there. Its been this way going on two years. ( And yes, I know its nothing compared to desert communitites )

Stage3-- watering only 2 days a month
Stage4--no watering at all, and other restrictions

I mention this, because, it seems to be making the national news how in drought ridden California, they are restricted to watering only 2 days a week and its so alarming.

Am I the only one that raises an eyebrow at the absurdity of it all? Should we really feel alarm and distress for the Californians because they are on this drought watch? I know tons of food comes from there on a year round basis. Why don't they mention that instead of how the poor people cain't water their lawns but more than twice a week?

Idk, just doing some supposin out loud, so to speak.

carry on with your cowboy and bar-b-que talk ( speaking of which, anyone check out Pecan Grill at Downtown Dallas' farmers market???? )

Hello all and Jenny you need to come down for a football game.

Newguy, I think there will always be some DFW and Houston people that trade insults but each has their own qualities that help make up this great state.

I don't think the traffic was even nearly as bad as it is up here! Houston's come a long way, plus the people are great. So much diversity and culture. I think SOME people may just be jealous. ;)

Uhm... I need to weigh in here.... traffic in Houston used to be way worse than Dallas. Mostly because you just couldn't go anywhere without some sort of construction going on. But that was years ago. Now look at Dallas, it is the same. DFW area has just had way too many people move here from all parts of the US and other countries as well.

ps.. this is not an invitation to any kind of political discussion. Just a mere observation by someone who has lived in both places.

That's very true. *waves* Hi newbs!

Heya Jenny!

I appreciate the slightly lower temps but I was really looking forward to having cloud coverage all day and the temp being really low. Really hoping we go much lower this week.

I knooooow. I still have a few things I need to do in the garage - I'm not going back out there while it's 90-anything!

Ended my day in the Jaquzzi just to relax to a nice shower and bed. It had cooled off by then so it was an enjoyable evening :)

Good morning by the way !!!!

We seem to be having a slight lull :(, but its still overcast and thundering so hopefully there will be more. :)

Hello to the sexiest ladies and manliest men in the U.S. Hope y'all can stay cool, dry or whatever the situation calls for!

Panhandle chick here. I'm not a native Texan...but once I got here I couldn't imagine living anywhere else in the world. I LOVE it here!!!

It has been raining all day here. This would be a perfect day to spend entirely in bed. Any ladies want to join?
