on my car is a sticker that says 'the difference between those of us with tattoos and those of you without, is that we don't give a f@#k if you don't have any.'

I have been toying with the idea for years now and finally decided to do it. (so not wanting people to affirm my decision) In no rush taking my time to figure out what I want, and where.
Research has suggested that the most popular sites for women are ankles, lower back and shoulders. Was just wondering if others had ideas.
Regards the 'white trash' thing, I guess that depends on where you live. The latest stats suggest that 1 in every 5 New Zealanders has a tattoo. That's a big hunk of our population inked. The indigenous peoples of New Zealand (Maori) were and often still are heavily tattooed with the moko (facial tattoos) being seem more and more. Maybe its a cultural thing.
I am sorry if this type of thread has been done before. I didn't intend to offend or bore anyone.

don't get yer tatt in a place just because that's where women get them, get it where you want it. My first proper tattoo is a huge back piece that goes from my right hand shoulder and ends up on the front of my left hip. My main advice for getting a tattoo is:
a) get it somewhere that can be covered up unless you are in a career where it doesn't matter or you are so well established you are needed for what you can do, not how you look.
b) don't get an itty bitty tiny one in the middle of a large area, it looks lame. generally, the bigger a tattoo is, the better it looks and a good artist will work with your body and make the design fit.
c) don't be afraid to reject designs. if the artist gets grumpy about it, find another one. you have to live with it, not him/her.
d) make sure the studio is clean and licensed. sounds obvious but they aren't all.

The best tattoos are the artworks done in prison with BIC pens. The ladies come home with arms covered with what looks like scribbles preschoolers do on walls.

Previously posted and ignored. A tattoo is a personal choice, not a descision you should leave to interweb strangers to make for you.
Previously posted but ignored by all:
Look, if you want a tattoo, get one. If you dont, dont. People in all walks of life have them: drs., buisnessmen, PhDs, etc..as well as felons and garbage men.
Theres always gonna be people on this board telling you not to, 'you look slutty. why mark up a sacred canvas.etc etc.' Theres gonna be some telling you its a great idea. If you need the internet to validate you, fucking grow up. They dont let kids in middle school get a tattoo without parent approval.
You know what? I approve, get a tattoo. Make sure its a yin-yang or a tribal though and pick it off the wall.

your comment was passed over so you have a hissy fit?
LMFAO!
It wasnt a hissyfit.
I was just trying to END the discussion. If the descision to get a tattoo is based on what the internet thinks you should just get: I HAVE NO BRAIN OR PERSONALITY tattooed on your forehead.
whoever asked this question is the only person whos response matters, therefore, it shouldve never been asked.
Luke-
First off there is NO hardcore in Southern California. NONE. 'I wanna pogo with a bunch of retards who do their best to look cool' is the best you can get in SoCal, or whatever their calling it these days.
Secondly, you question/reference the injury I have sustained to my brain, but to the threadstarter you dont even question the size or prescience of one. Granted, my brain was injured, but I would never post a question like 'Should I get a tattoo?' and 'if so, what and where?' to the internet. I value my own opinion enough to make those sorts of choices on my own and be happy with the results, regardless of what others think.

I giggled at him too AND NOBODY NOTICED!!

FYPWhen getting a tattoo, remember; go big or go home.
The pain will fade, but so will that little 1/2" butterfly on your ankle
