Tattoos

I have been toying with the idea for years now and finally decided to do it. (so not wanting people to affirm my decision) In no rush taking my time to figure out what I want, and where.

Research has suggested that the most popular sites for women are ankles, lower back and shoulders. Was just wondering if others had ideas.

Regards the 'white trash' thing, I guess that depends on where you live. The latest stats suggest that 1 in every 5 New Zealanders has a tattoo. That's a big hunk of our population inked. The indigenous peoples of New Zealand (Maori) were and often still are heavily tattooed with the moko (facial tattoos) being seem more and more. Maybe its a cultural thing.

I am sorry if this type of thread has been done before. I didn't intend to offend or bore anyone.

Put a lot of thought into it and don't get something that's fashionable, you know the trying to be different by having a tattoo but looking the same as everyone else such as celtix designs of Chinese or Japanese characters.

I got my tattoo when I was 18 (yes and dumb) Now I am just glad that I can't see it as its on my back as it doesn't seem so great now I am a fair bit older lol.

don't get yer tatt in a place just because that's where women get them, get it where you want it. My first proper tattoo is a huge back piece that goes from my right hand shoulder and ends up on the front of my left hip. My main advice for getting a tattoo is:
a) get it somewhere that can be covered up unless you are in a career where it doesn't matter or you are so well established you are needed for what you can do, not how you look.

b) don't get an itty bitty tiny one in the middle of a large area, it looks lame. generally, the bigger a tattoo is, the better it looks and a good artist will work with your body and make the design fit.

c) don't be afraid to reject designs. if the artist gets grumpy about it, find another one. you have to live with it, not him/her.

d) make sure the studio is clean and licensed. sounds obvious but they aren't all.

I reckon in aussie its got to be two in five adults 18-50. I am pretty heavily covered but it wasn't till it got extreme that anyone noticed at all. In aussie, the cutter seems to be facial tattooing. I need to skip the ditch!

Make it something you love and something that means something to you. Kybele's advice to go as large as you can afford is good. Artist shop. Go into studios, have a look at their books. If you're having black and white, go somewhere that does good black and white. Artists tend to specialise. And don't be a pussy, don't get that shit that is easily removed. Tattoos are for life. I am personally looking for to being a crazy old lady covered in tatts.:D

The best tattoos are the artworks done in prison with BIC pens. The ladies come home with arms covered with what looks like scribbles preschoolers do on walls.

Previously posted and ignored. A tattoo is a personal choice, not a descision you should leave to interweb strangers to make for you.

Previously posted but ignored by all:
Look, if you want a tattoo, get one. If you dont, dont. People in all walks of life have them: drs., buisnessmen, PhDs, etc..as well as felons and garbage men.

Theres always gonna be people on this board telling you not to, 'you look slutty. why mark up a sacred canvas.etc etc.' Theres gonna be some telling you its a great idea. If you need the internet to validate you, fucking grow up. They dont let kids in middle school get a tattoo without parent approval.

You know what? I approve, get a tattoo. Make sure its a yin-yang or a tribal though and pick it off the wall.

your comment was passed over so you have a hissy fit?

LMFAO!

It wasnt a hissyfit.

I was just trying to END the discussion. If the descision to get a tattoo is based on what the internet thinks you should just get: I HAVE NO BRAIN OR PERSONALITY tattooed on your forehead.

whoever asked this question is the only person whos response matters, therefore, it shouldve never been asked.

That head injury really fucked you up.

If I get anymore tats, they will be small. No more large or outlandish ones, small and tasteful all the way.

Luke-
First off there is NO hardcore in Southern California. NONE. 'I wanna pogo with a bunch of retards who do their best to look cool' is the best you can get in SoCal, or whatever their calling it these days.

Secondly, you question/reference the injury I have sustained to my brain, but to the threadstarter you dont even question the size or prescience of one. Granted, my brain was injured, but I would never post a question like 'Should I get a tattoo?' and 'if so, what and where?' to the internet. I value my own opinion enough to make those sorts of choices on my own and be happy with the results, regardless of what others think.

Brain Dead,

I already posted links to SoCal hardcore bands. You must have forgot that due to your brain damage. Dogtown and Z Boys were from SoCal. All porn is made in SoCal.

Your name is Skate and Fuck, two things we here do best. You only soil our good name with your moniker. You live in Colorado, not exactly the hot spot for...

...well, anything.

Southern Californ-I-A Hardcore is as fake as the net weight of breasts in said location.

Granted dogtown and Zboys. That was when? A long time ago. California started skateboarding, I make no contentions with that, it started as Home to the teams skating in uniforms that skateboarding eventually became a reaction to and antitheis of (starting w/Dogtown and Zboys). Which spread over the nation.

There is pornography filmed in every state in this fair nation, and every contry on the globe, although some do no commercial production. You are the porn capital of the world, want a cookie? You, personally, had nothing to do with that fact.

I skate, and I fuck. I do that in colorado, but would do it anywhere, I've done both as far east as PA, and have even done both in your fair state luke.

I got my first tattoo at 16 in honor of my grandfather who was like a dad to me when I was a little girl. It's a dragonfly about the size of the average woman's palm, on my shoulder.

The second tattoo I got is across my lower back, it's a music staff and 2 drama masks. The tattoo it's self is black but for the lips on the masks, they're red. I got that tattoo because music and theater have always been a major part of my life and I wanted to honor that.

Bullshit. I have been to backyard shows in Compton, and there is definitely hardcore in southern california.

When getting a tattoo, remember; go big or go home.

The pain will fade, but that little 1/2" butterfly on your ankle isn't going to grow larger over time.

I giggled at him too AND NOBODY NOTICED!!

......sniffle

drama whore!
