Spacebar 3.0 >.<

Good evening spacers. Hi ERM welcome. Tiamo cute costume.

Technology and I have not gotten along this week. 2 laptop hang ups. (Both in the shop) So had to get another because most all my daytime job is on the computer.

Otherwise good week.

What happens to your laptops?

If it's a performance issue, there is definitely a need for at least 4GB RAM, an i5 quad core processor, and a 500GB Harddrive.

Throw the gadgets like touchscreens out for pure power under the hood. The cost will be an even trade so you probably wont spend much money for those specs if you stay away from the gimmicky stuff they try to sell you.

Or pay the extra and get a Mac!

I Came For the Question of the Day

Where is it? Where's the Question of the Day??!

Actually I'm going to be not myself today. I was up until 6am working on something. Those of you who are nerdy enough to be my friend will have seen it, lol.

Staying up until 0600, crashing for the rest of the morning and then getting up is exhausting. I don't know how you do it...but then I know its frequently done by gamers and hackers. You sure do lose yourself in projects. Hope the weathers nice enough for you to get some outside time in to recharge yourself.

Well.. I hope that the reason this thread has been dead most the day is that everyone is having an awesome start to their weekend!!!

Amiright?

It has been kind of dead in here today hasn't it? I spent part of today out of town and then played catch up and fix up. But on the plus side I did make enchiladas for supper and they turned out pretty good.

I survived today!!! I have had an unexpected doctor appointment but it turned out good. We're not replacing the new med that was messing with me and it didn't make me gain but just a couple pounds I'd lost so I'm still down 40.

Made it thru Friday Flag Wave and then dinner with my wing lady. Just made it home to unload the truck for it to be ready at 6:45 tomorrow morning. One of my cop friends is stopping to help load a couple old TVs a VCR, an old mattress and a couple boxes of old PC software crap to take to Junk in the trunk. It's a quarterly trash amenisty mixed with swap meet thing. Everything is ready to load but the mattress. It's over my head in my old college loft. So I'm up at 5 am to load what I can alone. Get the mattress ready to pull down and load once he gets here. Then we're headed to work the event with the community service PD staff.

Thank God for my cop friends and I don't have to work the whole event. My support team sponsors the Coffee for coffee with a Cop at these events.

It all has to do with the windows 10 updates. The Toshiba (5yrs old) upgraded and loaded windows defender which doesn't get along with Norton and somehow corrupted the IMAX and wont recognize any Wifi. The HP (3 yrs) kept automatically shutting down and would say it was updating, then the little icon would spin for hours and not do anything. :cattail:

Good evening everyone! It does look like it was a mostly quiet day here in the Spacebar. Bound to happen every now and then. For me I was out most of the day. I had today off as the start of a three day weekend so I plunged right into it.

I threw on the pack and headed into the mountains pre-dawn, so I hit the trail head just as it started lighting up, then made a 4,000 foot climb that was park urban and then into a county park. I was as the summit by noon and met a friend who had driven up to pick me up. It was a beautiful hike, most of the time I had the trail to myself until I got to the more popular trails near the summit. (You can actually drive up to within a hundred feet or so of the summit and park there if you want.)

That accounted for most of my day - we drove down the otherside to the coast and had tasty creatures dredged from the sea for lunch, then sat on the beach. I needed that recharge.

I think so, Saturday is going to be nice.
Getting the bike ready for a ride on the beach trails.

Chris - pharmacy school was never an option when I was young. I jokingly tell people my guidance counselors advice to me was "try and learn a trade while you're in prison". I took kind of a long and winding road to get where I landed, but it's a good place all in all. I grew up poor in rural Nebraska, but made some good choices along this journey, so now I get to live in beautiful California. One of the things that always amazes me is the wide variety of experiences we go through as human beings. I've kind of lived the good side of the American dream, so I don't have much to complain about. I've never found it does much good anyway.

Tiamo - looks like the costume is shaping up! It's going to be fun. I am going out tomorrow to look for an opera cape. I tend to agree on the bacteria thing, to me, to more exposure we get the more resilient we become, and that holds true to both bacteria and the ups and downs of life.
Hi Rbijon!

Welcome to the Spacebar ERM

Hi TN, congrats on the new phone.

Hi HotCPU - yeah, that is similar to the path I took. I spent my early working years doing all kinds of strange jobs, then went the corporate route (in Silicon Valley), then got lured away to found a consulting firm, which we sold. Then, I spent several years wandering the earth like Cain in Kung Fu before I went back into consulting.

Hi Shmily - glad your week was good.

Hi Dumpling! <waves>

Starry - sounds like you have one busy day ahead of you tomorrow - good luck and I hope everything goes as smooth as it can!

I've been up since 4:45 tearing apart what I can up in the loft. After an hour I remembered I hadn't taken my meds. Better to be ahead of the pain then chasing it and having my butt handed to me on a platter. My cop friend already checked in but they just got a call so he won't be here till 7:15 so I figured food was a good thing too.

So I'm jamming out and trying to do the millions of little things I can without moving the heavy stuff alone. My Marine Doc yelled at me 2weeks in a row now. So I'm being really careful.

Morning all, is a beautiful morning in my hereabouts, sunny and cool, perfect fall weather. I can already see that todays going to be a leaf mulching yardwork and cleanup kind of day. Ah well, at least its nice enough to be outside and enjoy the day. Hope all of you have a good day and make the most of it.

Good morning

Slow and steady wins the race Starry – and it keeps us from getting hurt! Good luck as you got through the day.

Morning TN

It is a cool and beautiful morning here – I'm just about to head out and pick up a friend of mine and take him to breakfast. I'm looking forward to an easy Saturday. Which may or may not involve buying a used laptop from my friend. It's actually fairly new but he ultimately didn't like it, so he's already replaced it.

Someone take me to breakfast! I'd sure appreciate that as I have no food here at home. Instead I bought a lot of Easton Press books. And going overboard on other silly but stuff that will come in handy soon.

Will reach 77 today. What a glorious October weekend.

Also I need a new bookshelf. I want a whole bookshelf of these.

It's a perfect 74 here today.

Hey, let's do lunch and design a bookcase for your new handsome books.

Its been chilly here but it's Florida so it's 69 heading to 74 but breezy...
so Thank God it's sunny so some of us can get warmed up :D

I had to come home at 11:15 to just slow down.
I managed to get the truck unloaded over there, worked with the FD & PD some
made a trip back to the house to get some kitchen things to neighbors who will use them.
I don't need 2 crockpots and even dropped off some unneeded meds at the script turn in.
If I can just get a couple loads of laundry done while the jerk up front is at work &
get my bedroom back in a workable order then I am done for the day. I'm tired & sore but not too bad.

Hope you are all out there having fun & getting things accomplished today too.

If I lived closer I'd gladly meet you for breakfast or at this time it'd be more of a brunch. I've been seriously shopping around for bookshelves and bookcases and dislike what I've seen. Here's something I plan to try in the next week or sol

PVC pipe is easy to work with, isn't expensive and doesn't require power tools to work with.

The day continues to be beautiful here. Had a nice breakfast, picked up the laptop, now going to swing by the grocery store and knock a few items off the list.

I try to keep my book shelves under control, otherwise I end up with too many books. Though, that's not necessarily a bad thing until you try to move and you have a couple of hundred books!

Glad things went fairly smoothly Starry.

i'm a big fan of Saturday and Sunday morning breakfast or brunch with friends. It's an excellent time to catch up on each other's lives. Should any of you find yourselves in California you're welcome to join.

I still haven't eaten, lol. I'd be up for that. Last night on my walk I was doubling over with hunger pains. I'm not even on a diet!

Those look really cool! I'm actually buying PVC pipe this weekend. :)

I'll be in California maybe next month. I try to only keep the best books and am giving a ton away. I want quality now!

Ok, time to tear away from Lit and go eat!

Have a great day all, see ya'll later!

I went through a big book purge some years ago and cut it down to the books I actually read and use with some frequency or books that held intrinsic or emotional value. I donated the remainder to Friends of the Library for their book sales. Since then I've added some back, but with the rise of e-books most books I am reading for informational reasons or for simple pleasure land in the Kindle.

California is beautiful in the fall (actually, depending on the part of California, we really only have two seasons - summer and rain). Consider breakfast an open invitation if our paths cross.

I've got the laptop from my friend today - it's a nice Dell with a touch screen, which I wanted to get into. I have touchscreens on my work laptop, my personal all-in-one desktop and of course my iPad and iPhone. My personal laptop was a nice little Alienware gaming system - but I found I kept touching the screen and wondering if it was broke before remembering it didn't have a touchscreen.

I'm feeling yesterdays climb in my thighs today.

I am melting!!! So hot and sunny today. I usually wait until the sun is not so intense to be outdoors for long periods of time.

The gym here is valor, but at 7 levels!

I avoid the heat where I can when hiking or spending a lot of time out doing things. That are drink a lot of water. An extra lot of water.

LOL - love the new AV.
