Spacebar 3.0 >.<

I am melting!!! So hot and sunny today. I usually wait until the sun is not so intense to be outdoors for long periods of time.

The gym here is valor, but at 7 levels!

I avoid the heat where I can when hiking or spending a lot of time out doing things. That are drink a lot of water. An extra lot of water.

LOL - love the new AV.

As long as the humidity isn't to bad walking in the upper eighties, even ninety or so isn't a problem for me. But I do have to really focus on hydrating. Now I'm having to reaccelerate to walking again at colder temps. More then anything else its about starting out with shorter walks and increasing distance every day. The human body is an amazing thing in many ways and our ability to acclimate to different environments is incredible.

I am always impressed by it, especially when you stop and realize that humans live and thrive in everything from the artic to the sub-Saharan desert. The trick to any environment is get acclimatized and knowing how the environment works.

That's great. We're sliding into a nice cool evening here. I have my new laptop up and running and I am just putting it through it's paces to get used to it.

What's the brand name of your new laptop and how's it working out for you? I'm currently shopping for one myself.

It is a Dell Inspiron C15. I like it. I generally just use my personal laptop for two things - goofing around online and writing. (I like to keep it clean for those purposes.) It has a touch-screen which is why I got it. I'm getting used to using touch screens and my old laptop didn't have one.

Looks to have been a quite evening here in the Spacebar. I hope everyone's been enjoying the nearly perfect fall evening in the company of good people.

*smiles as I walk in*

I apologize for being absent the past few mornings. I had a ton to do before work and between work and after work.

The good news is that I am off both jobs tomorrow and get to enjoy some football and rest. :D

Yes! You deserve it. Get some rest and enjoy yourself!

Total new UPDATE... the surprises keep rolling today....

1) surprise was how much I hurt from doing the little move the junk out of here to the event yesterday. I didn't even have to lift anything heavy but just using the arm did it.

2) the landlords apparently turned off my heat in the old fuse box / electrical panel outside. it got down to 64 last night... I had to find & unpack the little space heater this morning to heat the bedroom up so I could deal with life. Thank God I have an oven & the bathroom light has a heater too.

3) The hotel we use for our HF Veterans has messed with a set of Veteran brothers. First they wouldn't give them the HF special rate... the local hotel wasn't answering their phone & the #800 people wouldn't give them the special rate. Once we finally got the local hotel to answer their damn phone then they refused to give them a room based on saying the block for HF was full. So open the damn thing up. Geeze last mission we had 41 rooms due to them opening more up. I'm so pissed at this hotel I'm ready to physically got find a new one even thou it's not my job. How hard is polite & professional??? We have 4+ missions a year for 5 years out of here & these hotel people are a screw up each time. Last mission they were training a new girl with our bus load of veterans... seriously you are training a new girl with a bus load of people??? FUBAR!!!!

4) had an emergency for a wounded warrior family needing help with some groceries get messed up. The team member who was going to help forgot to send anything so I had to do a shout-out to get new help. but she saw it & helped them but then I was able to get them a little more so they will not have to sweat it out waiting on those state people to correct their mistake. They were down to 2 pull ups for the littlest girl & living off the hurricane kit.

5) I got a group to help with the little kids walker & 2 smaller adult walkers the team saved from being scraped at yesterday's event. They will get them into the hands of people who can't afford a walker & need one. The little kids ones are really expensive so this will go to a family who can't afford one for their child.

OK I'm tired now. Since it's noon can I take a break???

2) apparently the landlords switched off my heat when they were working in the big old electric panel outside that time they were doing repairs.

Between moving the big junk stuff out yesterday and the cold I'm a screwed up mess this morning. I managed to find where I packed the little space heater so I'm trying to warm the place up. So far the hot shower and meds are NOT even touching the shoulder pain. Looking for where I packed the heating pad, making a big pot of hot coffee and I found a flannel shirt so the big warm up is next.

Anyone have an extra warm body to borrow??

If I were closer....

Thank You! :rose:
If you lived closer I'd probably just scare you like I do every other guy
around when I need help they all pretty much run

I think I have everything covered now that dropped on me over the last
24 hours. Some days it's quiet & others it snows hard.

Starry - the old adage "when it rains it pours" in action! I spent quite a few years as a program coordinator of a charity whose mission was affordable housing. I got so frustrated re-explaining things I built a cheat sheet with the fundamentals and whenever we worked with a vendor I would have them sign it and then laminate it so the volunteers could present it to break through the periodic bouts of stupidity. You do good work and at the end of the day, frustrations aside, that is what matters.

It's been a crisp and cool morning here, but a good one. I was up and out pre-dawn to help a friend drop his motorcycle off at the shop, then he bought me breakfast. I'm home now for a little stretch to shower, shave, and put on my nice clothes for a professional brunch, then I'll probably swing over to the theater and catch a movie.

Hi Azul - hope your day is going well.

Hi Azul - hope your day is going well.

I'm trying to make a differance. add on another thing to today's surprises.... Just sent a PM to a lawyer friend I've known for 20 years & he does charity work & is a great family guy. The little girl & mommy who helped find a place to handle the kids walker is in emergency surgery. This is the 3rd emergency surgery so far this school year due to the school mishandling her feeding tube. you'd think once would be enough but 3 emergency surgeries now due to them jerking on it & twisting it when they are trying to give her anything. Her mom is a single mom & tried fighting the school and so far this is what's she's had to deal with. This surgery isn't going well due to a bad reaction to the anesthesia but at least her doctor is there working today.

I'm hoping he has more of a clue then I do on what kind of lawyer they need. Medical? Is this considered abuse by the school? I'm not sure home schooling is an option but the school killing your kid isn't one either. If she came from a family with money it would be a different story.

Your lawyer friend should be able to point you in the right direction - basically, there is an obligation for a school to provide the services a prudent parent could provide in loco parentis (absent the parent) and failure to do so can be actionable negligence. The path would depend on the school district (public or private), but at a minimum they have to either provide a proper standard of care, or if the care is beyond them refer to a place that can provide the proper level of care. Who has been bungling the feeding tube? The school nurse?

Oh dear that sounds awful! I'd help but I'm about as far away as you can get and still be in the US. I Hope you warm up!

I think it's the aid the school provides. The mom has tried to deal with it as much as she can fighting with them to do things the right way and it's been a brick wall hit everytime. But 3 emergency surgeries from this school year alone on a little girl who is around 7 or 8. She cries now about not wanting to go to school but if her mom doesn't send her then mom's the one in trouble. I've set back and watched and enough is enough. What happens if she dies from surgery and or complications from all this mishandling.

This aid is a piece of work and there have been issues. She makes the little girl go to the library at recess cause she doesn't want to watch her. Great idea kill off the social life of an 7 year old cause you can't be bothered to do her job or care about her. There are many aids out here for special needs kids who care even less then this one. A few years ago there were a couple of kids who died while in a schools care. I can only watch so much then try to find some help to offer her mom an option. I can't imagine the stress.

I did have some fun today. I suddenly got a PM chat on Facebook that appeared. It was from one of my active duty guys but I knew it wasn't him. Just couldn't figure out if he was hacked or one of his guys got hold of his phone or Facebook account and was playing.

So I PMd his wife and it wasn't him but he was gonna go take care of it. I told her if he had to shoot one of his guys I didn't want to know. But Mr Church guy telling me he was thinking of becoming a stripper for better money was funny but I bet someone gets busted big time.

that's scary, when I was subbing in special ed, I was in a class with 2 on feeding tubes. They said I would have to feed both of them. I was like - no! I am not trained in using feeding tubes. The main teacher ultimately did it and I observed. It would seem there should be someone other than an aide to do that. The mom needs to call the state board of education! stat..
