They also say that people who feel the need to use ignore, don't have enough self control to not respond to trolls...

There is a smug satisfaction one gets when placing someone on ignore. It is that satisfaction that allows people to turn their attention away from whatever that particular person is saying or doing and turn it towards more productive pursuits, like flirting.
 
I have never put anyone on ignore, but I can imagine the feeling you refer to :)
 
I'm not sure that ignoring trolls ever works, at least with some of them. But we'll never know because they aren't totally ignored.
 
There are trolls here? I don't understand troll speak, so it's easy to scroll right past thier posts.
