SCOTUS rules in favor of Little Sisters of the Poor in ObamaCare contraception case

Government can't force any one or entity to go against their religious belief 1st A
and *yes* Religious belief trump's state mandate as stated by SCOTUS

"Religious liberty is a foundational principle of enduring importance in America, enshrined in our Constitution and other sources of federal law. As James Madison explained in his Memorial and Remonstrance Against Religious Assessments, the free exercise of religion “is in its nature an unalienable right” because the duty owed to one's Creator “is precedent, both in order of time and in degree of obligation, to the claims of Civil Society.” [1] liberty is not merely a right to personal religious beliefs or even to in a sacred place. It also encompasses religious observance and practice. Except in the narrowest circumstances, no one should be forced to choose between living out his or her faith and complying with the law. Therefore, to the greatest extent practicable and permitted by law, religious observance and practice should be reasonably accommodated in all government activity, including employment, contracting, and programming. The following twenty principles should guide administrative agencies and executive departments in carrying out this task. These principles should be understood and interpreted in light of the legal analysis set forth in the appendix to this memorandum."

"The Free Exercise Clause protects not just the right to believe or the right to worship; it protects the right to perform or abstain from performing certain physical acts in accordance with one's beliefs. Federal statutes, including the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993 (“RFRA”), support that protection, broadly defining the exercise of religion to encompass all aspects of observance and practice, whether or not central to, or required by, a particular religious faith."

Then why did you burn witches in Salem...or was that prior to the constitution

googled...seems prior heathens

So how do they manage to pay for the part of health care they do believe in...just call it 75% and go home

edit..I forget how the gay wedding cakes came out...do they gotta make them or not?

In a marriage*** Fucking for the sake of fucking is encouraged*** by the Catholic church. It is the foundation for the creation of the family unit... which is in it's own right the lowest level of government... has deteriorated through time. As the family unit dissolves so goes the moral fabric of our society. Secularism is antithetical to a healthy God fearing society, the proof is in our urban culture where there are no rules and where contraceptives, abortion and lack of self control flourish to the detriment of our cities. If you're looking for a good use for the word *** systemic*** it's not systemic racism that's the problem, it's the systemic failure of the family unit that is at the core of the demise of our urban communities.

I spent 11 years in Catholic schools, and even I knew that use of contraceptives prevents the thing that leads to abortions.

I didn't burn them, I wasn't even there :D I believe the constitution was ratified on Sep 25th 1789, the last witch was *burned* ( hanged ) in 1693 just a tad before the constitution was signed!

So does self control... which... you being a good catholic boy was taught fornication was a sin and sex was a privilege for a husband and wife (in the same marriage)

So, a catholic employer doesn't have to provide contraception coverage in its health insurance plan.

Does that mean a JW employer can opt out of providing blood transfusions in their health insurance plan?

And an aboriginal employer can only offer herbs as treatment?

What a country:mad:

There will soon be more holes in Obamacare than in Swiss cheese, thanks to this ruling. Ugh. Freedom of religion doesn't protect a right to cheat your workers out of your employer obligations to them.

Well, with the occasional choir boy thrown in.

Thats what he said...church trumps state

Where? Quote/cite??

Government mandated that contraception is part of health care that employers must pay for

The government doesn't have the authority to force people to buy shit for other people in violation of their religious beliefs. It's illegal, because this is a LIBERAL nation founded on LIBERAL values, one of which is the free exercise of ones religion and the SCOTUS upheld those values.

and the church said fuck you

No, the first amendment said "fuck you" and the SCOTUS said "Damn straight....get this anti-civil rights, authoritarian (D) bullshit the fuck outta here." and Adre along with all the other anti-civil rights stains on the left WEPT as liberalism prevailed against their tyrannical garbage.

Workers aren't entitled to contraceptives or even HC for that matter.

They are entitled to whatever pay/compensation/pension that was agreed upon in their employment contracts/agreements.

Nothing more, nothing less.

I'm just fascinated that it's apparently a foregone conclusion that organizations, which are legal constructs on a paper, can have religious beliefs.

But whatevs.

Is the concept of a "legal construct on a paper" representing people really that hard to grasp?

Religious organizations are tax exempt CORPORATIONS.

Corporations are "people" in the eyes of the law. That means they have Rights just like flesh and blood people do.

Don't like it? Change the damn law and watch those millions of employees who work for corporations go hunting for a new job after the corporation shuts down.

Unless you want to make that illegal too?

It is when you're losing the debate on simple principles, understood by almost everyone who doesn't have his head up his ass, and you need to try and salvage something so that you don't walk away in total shame.

It doesn't work. It never works, but that doesn't mean that the gambit won't be tried anyway.

Making working, especially for any sort of profit or gain, totally illegal would be VERY progressive.

It's a very specific religious exemption.
