We live in strange times. Conservatives have sided with America and against MAGA in not one but two cases!

Case one: Overturned appeals court ruling that Consumer Finance Protection Board was "unconstitutional".
In 2008, Senator Elizabeth Warren steered her landmark legislation into law. It provided consumers with protections against shady business practices, particularly "payday loans". It was novel in that it was funded by the Federal Reserve, NOT by congressional appropriation, which made it immune from Congressional whims. MAGA wanted their 300% per year loans and sued in federal court. The radical Fifth District ruled that any agency NOT funded by Congress was "unconstitutional".

Clarence Thomas...CLARENCE MOTHERFUCKING THOMAS....mumbled "booshit" (or something to that effect).

He noted (correctly) that plenty of legislation over America's history had been funded by means other than direct Congressional appropriation. Supreme Court ruled 7-2 against MAGA and payday loan companies. Wheeee! (Alito and Gorsuch dissented).

Case two: Overturned Louisiana Court ruling that two majority-black Congressional districts was "unconstitutional and racist"
Background: Back in 2022, Brett Kavanaugh ruled that state ballot printing deadlines were sacred, per the "Purcell precedent" (Some guy named Purcell wrote a memo...NOT a "precedent" that there'd be rioting in the streets if ballot printing deadlines were not observed). Kegger Kavanaugh ruled that a Federal court ruling that redestricted ALABAMA to have not one but two majority black districts "was decided post-deadline" so there'd only be ONE majority black district in 2022 but TWO was okay in 2024.

This came back to bite Kavanaugh in the ass this year. Louisiana has traditionally had ONE majority black district out of SIX since 1965. The legislature and Republican governor voted to redistrict to TWO majority black districts in 2024. This was done prior to the ballot printing deadline. But whoooo hooo, racist MAGA supporters filed a lawsuit that it was "racial discrimination" to reduce the ONE black congressional district from 80% Black to 60% Black (the other 20% moved to an adjacent district so now there were TWO majority-black districts with 60% black populations. Again, the Fifth Circuit (the most racist in the country), found in favor of the White MAGAts.

Not so fast, said Kavanaugh. Deadlines are deadlines and this was decided AFTER the Louisiana deadline, so there would be TWO majority-black districts up for grabs in 2024. (Kavanaugh would have been exposed as a hypocrite had he NOT stuck with his own 18 month old opinion). Louisiana has 33% blacks (one out of three people) but currently but prior to 2024 only one out of six congressional districts. The new legislation changed that to two to mirror the population, which is fair but as we all know, fairness is anathema to MAGA
