I'm trying to figure out what to wear on New Years Eve, and strappy sandals are really the only appropriate footwear for the dresses I'm trying on.

Is it weird to wear sandals in winter, even on dressy occasions? I've seen women do it before.

No pantyhose, of course. I hate the sandals and pantyhose look.

My roommate did it the whole time we were in canada for octoberfest. We also called her an idiot the whole time though.

I do it too.

They look sexy as hell.

How long are you going to spend out in the cold anyway?

Yeah, what's frostbite matter as long as you're looking good....

Morgy, good point. Being cold for a few minutes at the expense of looking good is worth it. Anyway, I'm going to be sweating up a storm inside dancing.

Now the question is: long dress or short, and which sandals?

Your legs...short dress.

Something fitted.

Sexy, strappy heels that look dangerous as sin. As long as you can walk in them.

Very sexy, I can almost see you now ;)

I'm gonna need pics...

What should she wear? Nice big fuzzy boots?

Yes. You can change into the shoes when you get to your destination.

None of you people live where snow is common on New Year's, do you? Sandals and bare feet wouldn't do well in a few inches of white stuff. In this part of the world, it would be insane and I would most likely LMAO for real at any woman vain enough to wear the sandals/ no shoes. :p

I'm with the rain lady. I say the short skirt with the strappy heels, too. The long skirt and flats sounds like a very safe evening.

You want 'em, you got 'em, toots.

Heavy, I actually might wear that dress with the little sheer overdress that came with it. The place I'm going is creative black tie, thoguh, so the boots aren't the best idea. Plus, I don't know if I could dance all night in them.

I might end up buying myself a Christmas present of sexy new sandals. Or I could wear the ones where my toes are in bondage. Perky likes those.

I wanna be a girly girl, I'm trying to live vicariosly through Minxi for a moment.

I own some sexy heels. But I am more dangerous walking my little walk in them...*shaking head* I'm a total boots girl.

One Word:Stockings!

Hon, those are reserved for either long skirts or behind closed doors. I don't want men walking up to me and asking how much per hour I cost.

Cheyenne, I would get laughed at so hard if I tried walking into a dance club in fuzzy snow boots on New Years Eve. I also don't think the coat check would check them. (Actually, I don't own snowboots. Timberlands are the closest I come to snow boots.)

Go ahead and wear the sandals! Okay, admittedly, I live in So Cal where the worst thing we have to worry about on New Year's Eve is rain, but what the hell - go for it!

Long? Short? For me, it depends on the occasion and where you would be going. Oh, and comfort. Yeah, I know. Seems like an oxymoron with the sandals comment above! :D

If she's clubbing in Manhattan, she should definitely go for the sandals. There won't be snow on those sidewalks and she'll fit in with everyone else there.

Chele, I think short would be more comfortable for dancing, as well as cooler. It gets hot in those clubs.

Angel, thanks for totally understanding where I'm coming from on this issue. :)

Just make sure your back and shoulders will be warm, that's the important thing. I wear sandals in winter all the time except when it's really really cold, but as Cheyenne pointed out we don't get much snow here.

That's what I was thinking too. You step out of the cab, walk eight feet across the sidewalk and you're back inside. Unless there was a blizzard actually in progress, no problemo.

my thoughts exactly. Darling, looking good on New Year's Eve is not meant to be about practicality, anyway! Unless you were planning to stand out for hours doing the Times Square thing (which of course everyone knows no REAL New Yorkers do anyway, that's strictly for tourists) what does it matter if your feet are nearly naked?
