We've all been moved by the events that happened on this day 9 years ago. My heart goes out to the victims, the survivors, their families and the soldiers who've been fighting for our country since that awful day.

I just wanted to provide a place where we can share our thoughts and experiences regarding that day or life after 9/11/01.

Please take a moment and watch this short video. I was deeply touched by it.

9/11 We remember

I wish everyone peace.:rose:

Great post, Raindear.

If I may, this video was available at the end of that Bud commercial. I think it bears repeating that for the last nine years, men and women have endured unimaginable hardships and made heroic sacrifices to keep this country free from attack. Let's not forget what they've done for us.

It says Iraq, but it's equally applicable to Afghanistan as well.

From the heart of this AF wife...thank you Rain!

I can remember getting ready for my 1st day of work, and not realising what had happened until my father told me that the 2 planes had been flown into the Twin Towers, and subsquently the plane that crashed into the Pentago, and the one that went down in Shanksville, PA

My heart goes out to the families of the 2,977* individuals that died during the tragic events of that day. *I'm fully aware that the number is off b/c I didn't include the 19 hijackers...sure they died, but I've got no love for those that are enemies of America.

The events of that day triggered a sense of patriotism that has largely been quiet in the recent years, tho that's not to say the military and the role that the military has played has been forgotten...far from it.

I'm thankful for those who stand the line and willingly fight to protect the freedoms we have. I am overwhelmed when I realise that I've outlived many of the military men & women who've given their life, paying the ultimate sacrifice, never forgetting that I have my tomorrow b/c they gave their today.

Just a couple of touching videos...

If I die before you wake

Military reunions...lengthy but homecomings are ALWAYS nice!

Thank you Sensualdreamer for sharing! Hugs to you, sugar.

Perfect post, my love.

I well never forget the day as long as I live...I was doing a routine security tour on top of Depont in Garden City New York when one of the Maintence guys screamed out...Oh My God!!!!!...Oh MY God!!!!! it's collapsing and I stood there frozen as the 1st tower went down...it is etched in my mine even today.

Thanks for the forum, Rain - great idea. And some real good posts here...

Thank you all for sharing. That's what this thread is all about.

I'm going to bed, but y'all keep remembering.

I also will never forget... I was teaching at a middle school that day and the local station cut into the morning daily news update program done for that age group... It was a mixture of disbelief and trying to answer questions from those students about why, how, etc.

I just want to take a moment to thank any and all who have served, are serving and those family members who have lost loved ones as they have defended the freedoms that our country affords us. It is impossible to put into words the gratefulness in my heart to all of you.

Above all the speculation as to who did what that fateful day, one thing stands as fact. No matter who was ultimately responsible for it, the tragic loss of life of innocent people in the thousands is heart-breaking. So many candles of life were snuffed out that day and the world has been a little darker since.

I hope it stays as a reminder, that our lives are all precious and short-lived. That each one of us is special and unique and to be treasured as such. No matter what reason lay behind this and other events, the suffering of the innocents is what we have to bear with as the cost.

May the people of the world find a peace within their hearts and learn to love one another.

Never...ever....forget

Soldiers at Airport

Seen only once...still gives me chills

I was a rep for an insurance company and visiting a doctor's office that morning for our normal monthly educational meeting. They had a small TV in the office - the 1st tower had already been hit and we watched in horror as the second plane hit the other tower. Stunned beyond words, it was quite for about 10 minutes or so. Sadly, and a bit ironic, the doctor was from Pakistan and a Muslim. He came from his private office, told the workers to call all patients and cancel appointments for the day. He said, without us knowing who would claim responsibility, that Muslims would be blamed and he feared what might happen at the office.

And thank you to all who have served....those that are serving....and those of you that have lost loved ones serving their country. Their sacrifices are truly appreciated!

In remembrance

This link still amazes me, thank you all for sharing yours. Both my soon to be ex-husband and my older son's father serve in the US Army. Both have been to Iraq, both have suffered injuries-outward and inward, and both carry the burden of PTSD. I still consider myself a military spouse, and always will consider myself part of the larger military family.
My heart aches for all the souls touched by the acts on 9/11. I still remember standing in a huge Target, newly pregnant, watching as the entire store walked in silence to the electronics department. I remember watching friends and family preparing to serve and protect, and knowing that the war had come here. I also remember trying to explain it to my five year old,as I prayed that the new life inside of me would have a safe world to enter.
