Anybody here have a piercing in a hairy spot where they use Magic to de-hair the area? Any tips? I tried it once and did not get such good results but am in the mood to try again. Any experienced voices out there? (I can't remove my labial ring!)

(Edited to correct the misleading statements above. I tried Magic before and did not get such effective results. Want to try again, but this time, I want to dehair my nether regions instead of a section of shin.)

I can think of two potential problems:

1) Corrosion of your labial ring. Magic (or any other depilitory) is caustic and could remove any plating on th ring. If the ring is pure gold, it probably won't be a problem -- anything else will probably be discolored and/or pitted if exposed to Magic.

2) Irritation of the piercing. If Magic gets inside the hole through your labia, it might be difficult to remove. If it isn't removed it will cause a chemical burn.

You can probably minimize both problems with a coating of Petroleum Jelly or wax before applying the Magic.

Thanks for the vaseline idea.

WH, I can't remove it because it is a 10 guage and requires a special tool for removal/changing. It is titanium--I am not sure where that falls in relationship to chemical reactions.

Sorry, I have no piercings other than in my ears (and they aren't hairy, yet. :D) But what Harold says makes sense to me.

I have no advice or input- none of my hairy parts are pierced.
I just wanted to say that I *just* noticed what you wrote for your location... very familiar.... :D

Titanium will discolor, but probably not pit. It's not a very reactive metal. I'd still coat it with something befor exposing it to Magic.

(BTW, I'm NOT a magic user. My comments are based on basic chemistry and experience with other caustic substancs.)

I have been thinking about lazering my pubes--but it is cost prohibitive for now. I might try the Magic next time on the area(a) farther south of my rings and just razor the front parts.

Thanks for the input everyone.

Lilminx,
When you made the comment about location, I checked yours wondering if you were in Houston too. but yours says hell. It gave me a start for a moment--since that is where I work! :D

As far as the quote goes, it is one of the most entertaining things I have seen in the past week. That nutty puppy today was eating some grapefruit with me at lunch time. I offerred it to him expecting him to turn his nose up at it and quit begging. Nope! He gobbled it up enthusiasticly and then dug the rinds out of the trash for further chewing. Crazy dog!

Just curious ... what form of Magic will you be using ...

the powder or lotion ?

Would that affect your piercing ... depending on what product form you use ?!?!? Just wondering about that ...

:)
