Polygamist in my office...

Yesterday a real-as-life Polygamist came into my office! I have heard about these people but never really expected to see one in the flesh. Almost like an urban legend or something.

Anyway, this guy was rude, irritating and a total bigot. He has five wives and over 30 kids and they all live in rotted out trailers outside of town.

After the whole Tom Green polygamy thing in Utah, I am not very open minded about this sort of thing. Before that, I hardly even knew what polygamy was. But after hearing about all the nasty details of this guy and some other polygamists in the area I feel sick to my stomach thinking about those poor women. They are totally enslaved and living in squallor. It's sad and wrong!

What do you guys think about it? I am glad Tom Green was sent to jail and I think this asshole who came in my office should be in jail too. He has several sons who are all also polygamists. I think it is just plain WRONG and they should go to jail.

Polygamy is the natural order of the human race. As long as the man is sufficiently able to support his wives and children, I see no problem with it.

In fact, my great-great-grandfather was a polygamist. He had three wives, all sisters.

Scumbags come in all shades, but I'm sure as a rational adult you already knew that.

If someone else's private married life isn't affecting your life in any way, shape or form, why exactly is it your business? I still don't understand why it's illegal either.

I don't have a problem with guys having more than one wife or for that matter a woman having more than one husband.

Now having said that, Why on earth anybody would want that is beyond me.

Because some of these girls are getting knocked up when they are 14 years old by a disgusting 50 year old pedophile and being enslaved into this lifestyle all in the name of "God". Because he can't support his clan of almost 40 people and they all live in extreme poverty and squallor and none of the wives are allowed to have an education. It's not right and it pisses me off. It is not fair to the women he marries or the children he produces. Not to mention the family is recieving thousands of dollars of taxpayer money a month and are on every type of govt aide available but will never get off of it because of the way his women are not allowed to become employable. Because he treats them like property and not human beings.

i think i'd have to agree that polygamy is, or at least was the natural order. social stigma has caused it to be banned in most countries but when man first began to walk upright i'd bet that monogamy was unheard of. man had as many mates as he could provide for to insure the survival of his "clan".

as for the guy you're talking about i agree. he should probably be jailed or at least have his ass whipped for being a scumbag. i don't think a man should be married and have even one kid if he can't provide for them.

I think scumbags exist all over the place. There's a guy who lives a few blocks over in a 150,000 house with a basement and attached garage with one wife and two kids. They have nice clothes and all of the luxuries of life.

But she does "fall down the stairs" a lot. Therefore, by the rationale proposed in this thread, all married men are scumbags and should be put in jail.

That man is a scumbag and should be put in jail. Not all polyamorous relationships happen with a filthy disgusting pig who marries them at 11 and keeps them barefoot, pregnant, and starving if not for WIC and foodstamps.

That was my original point, Angel. Polygamy and polyamory is one thing, and if it is between consenting adults, then that is their business.

But someone who keeps his 5 wives and 30 kids in rotted out trailers, well. Ick. To me he sounds like a scumbag, keeping his family in irresponsible squalor.

It would be different if he housed them all in a more respectable fashion, and was able to support them.

I agree with Angel, who are you to tell someone they shouldn't have an extra wife or husband because you find it "morally" wrong. The fact that he has children as wives or that he is a scumbag has nothing to do with the fact that he marries more than one.

I know several people who enjoy the poly lovestyle, and they are great people and take well care of their families. Though I know a lot of assholes married to one woman and treat them like crap.
