if it's graphics, go for the x box... but Ps2 should be realeasin an expansion i think

I'm gonna represent the GameCube!
The graphics are excellent, and with excellent games now starting to appear, its definitely worth a try. Especially as its the cheapest of the three!

I am pondering this same question, but it is between XBox and PS2. Likely PS2, so as not to support the evil corporation.

Nintendo has produced only inferior systems after Super Nintendo.

It's not so mush that Nintendo has produced inferior systems since SNES came out, it is their fanaticism towards piracy that keeps them behind. Plus Nintendo made some good money from the developers by staying with the cartridge format and making the developers pay fees for the cartridge. There were a lot of people pissed at Nintendo over this.

Sony and connected companies have lost millions of dollars to piracy. People mod chipping their PlayStations and PS2's then downloading games to burn and play for free instead of buying from a store and paying $30-$50 per game.

As for the GameCube being inferior .... this is incorrect. Load times are almost nil, graphics are stunning, sound is great, 4 controller ports, great price point, and don't forget the WaveBird wireless controller. You also have your 1st party Nintendo games. It is small enough to transport easily, there is now a screen ( very small screen I admit, but still a personal size screen ) you can hook up to your GC and play no matter where you are. There is also a new adaptor that you can hook up and play your Game Boy games on.

I stand behind my purchase of my GameCube as I do my X-Box and PS2.

I own all three because I can afford all three and I play games on all three systems. I play more games on my PS2 than any other system, but that is because there are more games I like made for that console.

All three systems have their good points and their not so good points. Microsoft has actually LOST money on the X-Box system. But they make up for the losses in other departments of the company. So they are not too worried.
With more and more people playing video games that are over 18 and have jobs, I don't think the home console business is in any danger in the near future. Having such sharp conpetition is what keeps "US" the gaming consumers happy, by making the companies keep developing good solid games for us to play.

As long as they make good games, I will buy them. :D

For those who didn't notice - I did make my choice - XBox, and its great...

And... I do plan on buying Halo.

PLAN? Good lord, it's incredible.

Good choice, Dilly. PM me if you want game selections.

Thanks Stormy. I've been playing Dead or Alive 3 and Jet Set Future Radio and love them. Just ordered Panzer Dragoon Orta and will get Halo soon - but I only have so much time - those will be more than enough to keep me busy, I'm sure - but I'm open to suggestions too.

That should keep you busy for a while.

Mechassault if you like to blow shit up.

Apex ($45) or Project Gotham ($19) if you like racing.

Star Wars Jedi Outcast

Halo Halo Halo. It re-defines FPS games. Did I mention Halo? Halo.

Don't forget to put your own soundtrack on the hard drive.

Games to watch for in the future:
Brute Force
BC
True Crime: Streets of LA
Dues EX
Starcraft
Halo2 ;)
Star Wars: KOTOR (an RPG)
Soul Calibur II
Fable
Ninja Gaiden
Doom III

Any sports game by SEGA, if you like sports.

Thanks! Most of those games are on my list already - and I have read that mag and have one demo disk (bought it at the airport -helped me make the decision to buy the Xbox) - I haven't subscribed yet but I will...

And it seems most everyone agrees that nothing beats Halo.

Haven't done the soundtrack thing yet, but I will - and (if my flight actually takes off tonight with this weather) - I can't wait to set up the 5.1 surround sound this weekend.

Don't forget, if you have broadband access, get Xbox Live.

And a couple more games to add to the list are Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon.

If anybody wants to add me to their Xbox friends list my gamertag is 'Semler'

Yes, good call. MGS 2 as well.

Thanks.

I haven't decided about XBox Live yet... I get online on the PC and play Unreal Tournament which is great - and I've got enough "newness" in the xbox right now to keep me busy - plus I heard the Live network wasn't up to par yet... but I'll probably join it eventually.

Actually, much as I love Halo, I think the best multiplayer game is Timesplitters2, the arcade mode of that is manic and a massive amount of fun.........

Dill, if ya like sports games at all, then stick with the Sega 2k3 series.. Madden 2003 comes close to being as good as NFL 2K3, but in every other sport Sega kicks ass.

For a little visual treat, DOA Beach Volleyball is nice to rent, but I wouldn't buy it.

And the Electronic Arts games don't support Xbox Live. Another reason to go with Sega.

I got my first taste of Halo last night. 8 player split-screens via two consoles.

I was disappointed. First the good: 8 players! That is awesome - kudos to the makers of Halo to incorporate this feature. The framerate was consistent and the graphical detail also never suffered. Decent level designs (given vehicles, what not).

Now the bad. I expected more complexity in the polygon designs given the heaps of praise I've heard since the XBox's debut. But the levels made up for it.
The controllers suck major dick. Sorry guys, but it was a horrible experience to adjust to. The N64 controllers were ideal for FPS, and this was sorely evident as we played. (I'm a 1.2 tyope of player. If you think that setup is for losers, let's pop in Bond or PD and I'll wipe the floor with your sorry ass.)
Speaking of the N64 - compared to Perfect Dark, this was overly simplistic in it's setup. Play until 5,10, 25 or 50 kills? Why not make it customizable? What if we want to play in between, or just go on until we're blue in the face? Disappointing they couldn't make an 'advance setup' option available.
Automatic reload is an essential feature. At least make it an option. Seriosuly. Big loss there too.
Only two weapons? Yikes. The weapon variety was a bit weak too, but to be fair, I don't believe we played the full assortment. (I want proximity mines!!!)

I think when Perfect Dark Zero is released for the XBox, many of these issues will be rectified. If Halo's makers can correct them by Halo 2, all the more power to them.

Oh well, just my take on it. A good game, yeah, especially for being a first-gen title. Not game of the year though. Not by a long shot.

Get the smaller "S" Controller pronto.

Myself, I used the huge ass controler for a month .. took that long to get used to it .. then bought the S Controler and it took me another month to get used to playing the games on a slammer more compact hand unit.

I have some settings question for Xbox.

I hooked up the fiber optic cable to my surround sound system (and set that as my preference on the Xbox) but seem to only be getting stereo - is it only certain games that have 5.1 surround sound - and how do you know which ones? Does Dead or Alive 3 have surround sound?

Video Options - same thing - I've got HDTV and set the Xbox settings to that - but don't see any difference in the video quality - does that depend on the games too?
