The Cup is always in Canada. It's home is at the hockey hall of fame in Toronto... Brad Richards took it too PEI last month. Hell it was here in Edmonton a few weeks ago as well with another Lightning player.
I hate that whole "bring the cup home to Canada" BS.. Calgary is not all of Canada. Serious Flames fans didn't really give a shit if Sens fans were happy to see them win. I don't know one Flames fan that was going to share the cup with Oilers fans. As another friend who followed the Flames happened to tell me a few times, she was more than happy to tell fans of other teams who were "rooting for the Cup to come to Canada" to kiss her ass and get the hell off a winning teams bandwagon...
The one thing that pisses me off - especially about fans here in Edmonton, but generally all over Canada I imagine - is that thousands will throw on a stupid Flames car flag and gladly root for their mortal enemy, but yet greet a national team going for an international hockey championship with a collective yawn.
I have my Canadian car flag waving proudly. I've only seen one other vehicle with one.. I guess we should have just thrown a flaming C on our chest and seen if we could get a goalie from Finland to play for our team.. maybe then Team Canada would have gotten more support.
