uuhhhh............did you see Sweden's goalie? Make Kiprosoff (?) a Swede and we would have a problem.

If the Chezcks (I know a 'Z' goes in there somewhere dammit, just don't know where?) got there shit together they would be the team to watch out for.

The Czechs have Havlik, Jagr, Reichel, Vaclav, Kaberle, and the excellent Cechmanek in net. Now, if they could only play on the ice as good as they look on paper....

Vokuon is the starter. He's quite good.

It always come's down to goaltending!

:)

I just say thank God there's some hockey on.........the NHL and the player's association better get their act together or they will lose tons of fans

Game over...

5-1 for the good guys, and the Canadian Steamroller moves on...

:p

C'mon... The Sweds?? Salo and Tellquist are their goalies.. Nuff said. One is a choke artist that let Belarus beat him, the other has yet to be a full time starter in the NHL. Swedden's offense is impressive, but that's about as far as I'll go.

Finland worries me with Kipper and how he's playing.. I think we all recognize that guy from the playoffs a few months ago, he looks to be playing about the same now as then.

The US is old.. I thought they may do better and their goaltending would be suspect.. Turns out it's the other way around! Robert Esche was the only reason Russia didn't blow them out of the water tonight!

Canada has this thing all locked up. When we can lose the likes of Blake, Pronger, Jovanovski and Redden and yet still have arguably the tournament's best defensive six on the ice - not to mention having the best goalie in the world today Martin Broduer in net - I know that it would take a miracle for any team to beat Canada at all in this tourny.

LOL
I was just gonna go find this. Yes, Finland looks good. I think Canada would pound there small 'd' down low in the smaller ice surface, and they would fold. I would still pick bordeur over Kipper anyday of the week.

Tellquist is gonna be a good goalie. I wouldn't count sweden out just yet.
Russia looked pretty good tonight as well..........but then again, it was just the americans they were playing.

:D

Thing is MM, I don't overly care about those other teams because with the roster Canada has, I don't think it matters what any other team throws at them. There is just too much talent across four lines and six d-men for any one team to deal with. You can shut down one or even two of the lines completly, but as we saw with Slovakia more than one or two lines can dominate play if they play hard enough.

Hell, I think that's all it comes down too. Canada just has to play hard every game, play a full 60 minutes... do that and their should be no reason they aren't hoisting up that ugly ass trophy in the end.

(Maybe it's that trophy that's causing the US to suck as bad as they are.. I don't know if I'd want to win it either..)

And the puck drops....NOW!!!!

Time for Russia to get it's butt kicked:)

GO TEAM!!!!!!

Anyone care to join me for some drinks and cuddling while I watch the game?

2 - zippo!!!

Like I said.. is there any doubt boys and girls!? Canada kicks serious ass, and it doesn't matter what the hell uniform you wear.

Holy crap, the Iginla, Sakic, Lemieux line is just snake bitten. They should have had ten goals in the three games by now.

It's a good sign though. If they keep attacking the net they'll get their goals.

And may I say Marty 'freeking' Brodeur rocks!!

I also gotta say the future wife is loving how St. Louis and Richards are all over the place and scoring goals. I thought the whole Tampa Bay liking thing was just a vs. Calgary issue, but I'm starting to think the Lightning have become 'her team' for good.

Brodeur's playing very well, but so is the team in general.

I like tampa bay, they get compared to the canadiens of the '70s a lot here in quebec...

And the Canadian steamroller moves on, leaving Russia flattened under it....

3-1 BayBEE!

They do? How? Who in the heck do you compare the likes of Larry Robinson to? I mean I like the Bolts and all.. but comparing them to the 70's Habs that won five cups in a row?

Hell, for my money I don't think the 80's Oilers or Islanders could even truly compare to the 70's Habs.

My fearleas predictions -

Semi's

Canada over the chezcks (where does that 'Z' go?)
Russia over Finland

Finals

Canada over Russia

And as Ditka would say in the old SNL skit, final score Canada 10 - dem commie bastards 0.

:D

LOL I didn't personally say that...

There's no comparison with the Canadiens defence of that day, I was referring to their offensive flair.

Lecavalier and St. Louis are very popular here.
