I have every kind of rat deterrent in my home.
Electronic, sonic blaster type things, rat traps, baits in every part of the ceiling, every access point has steel wool stuffed into it.... and today I came home and found yet another bush-rat in my house :(
And not just in my house, but crawling all over my spotlessly clean stove! There's nothing there for it to eat, dammit
Where was the cat? Sleeping on her fucking sheepskin rug in front of the fireplace - not 10 fucking feet from the fucking stove

I can't figure out where the bastardrats are coming in.
We've had very little rain, so I know they come looking for water, but I have done everything I can think of to keep them out and it's STILL NOT WORKING!!!

Anyone else have any ideas?

I am not an expert on this but is there any such thing as a poison that is water soluable that they would drink. You could even plant it outside the house.

All the water sources outside are too far away from the house (dams and soaks).
And I have never heard of something water-soluble.

Leave a pair of your crusty knickers out every night.

Problem solved.

Yw.

Get a man to look.

Stick to cooking and cleaning.

Heh - you are talking to the only person in the household who has the balls to catch spiders, pick up the scorpions and kill snakes.
The men of my house are fucking pansies when it comes to critters

I do not know really. New products are coming out all the time. When was the last time you thought of rats before they showed up?

I would go online and search out "rat poison", "exterminators" or something nlike that and see if anything is going on. Fast and easy and may work out very well. :)

Are you talking about the poisons that are activated when the rat drinks?

I'm googling frantically.
Turns out, rats can get in through any space a quarter the size of their head.... their skull bones are 'collapsable' so they can squeeze thro tight spaces. I never knew that.

I said a man.

Not your little bitch kids and husband.

Sounds like ferrets.

I do not know what I am talking about. I have not given rats a thought in years. All I know is that new products are coming everywhere all the time and there might be a water soluable product that may work here. You would think that in dry climates it would be a big product success.

So can bats. One of my sisters had a problem with them recently. If you cannot find another method your place is going to need a very careful examination for openings interior to exterior.
