Fairytale of New York

Category: SF&F

Year published:
2023

Words:
1.8k

Basic premise:
Every Christmas Eve, a troll forces himself out of his tunnels to search for his lost love.

Themes: It's about introversion, how addictive it can be, and how hard it is on the people in your life.

Motivation: I wrote it after Shane McGowan died, as a tribute to him and Kirsty McColl. It was supposed to be a fluffy fairy tale, with fae creatures inhabiting New York's Central Park. Within a few lines it had taken a dark turn, and I found myself exploring my severe introversion and trying to express it.

Why is it your best story: Perhaps not my best, but for a short piece it packs a punch. As @Devinter said in the WIWAW thread linked below, "I'd go into a deeper, proper review - but then I'd have to read the story again for a fourth time, and I don't know if I can handle that today." Few other stories of mine have as much of me in them, and this one ended up as a tribute to my wife, and her patience in putting up with me.

Anything else we should know about it: This story was the basis for the very first WIWAW.

Cosplay Euphoria

Category: Crossdressing

Year published: 2025

Words: 7,600

Basic premise: A couple of awkward dorks decide to dress in cosplay for ComicCon, and end up in some unexpectedly sexual situations.

Themes: Costume fantasy, gender play, light exhibitionism, going outside of your comfort zone

Motivation: The story I wrote before this one, Accessibility Compliance, got a really positive response and I fell in love with the characters. The Geek Pride writing challenge was coming up and I wanted to participate in that, and the awkward horny nerdiness of Scout and Jeremy seemed like a natural fit!

Why is it your best story: I'm proud of the way I integrated some fun nerdy references, obvious ones like Star Wars, and less obvious ones like Disney's A Goofy Movie as a metaphor for the suburban Black experience. I defiantly chose to spend way too much time on costume descriptions, which some people dislike but in this context I felt that I needed to go deep with it! I'm especially proud and protective of the character of Scout, and they seem to have struck a chord with some readers which makes me really happy 😍 People also liked the character of Rosa waaay more than I was expecting...

Anything else we should know about it: A lot of Scout's feelings and anxieties are my feelings and anxieties, writing this (and Accessibility Compliance, and Vocational Awe) was somewhat therapeutic for me! I've never cosplayed myself, but I have cosplay friends who unknowingly gave me a lot of inspiration, inshallah they will never know 😅

My heroine (note final ‘e’ though @PennyThompson is kinda addictive).

I really pondered before joining in on this - firstly, there is a ton of stuff already for anyone to read, and this will just add to a huge pile. And also, I am aware that the category can be a turn off for many people. But, for what it's worth, I herewith present, Penny Dreadful Takes Flight - https://www.literotica.com/s/penny-dreadful-takes-flight

Category: Humor and satire

Year published: 2024

Words: 23k

Basic premise: This is the third part in a loose collection, hence the stories are not chaptered. The collection follows a seemingly respectable upper-class Victorian/Edwardian woman in a mildly anachronistic London (there are some very mild steampunk elements). The FMC is a part-time agent for a shadowy British intelligence agency, combating an equally shadowy criminal mastermind, bent on bringing down the British Empire in increasingly ridiculous ways.

Themes: This is meant as a parody of historical espionage thrillers (as are the ealier stories in the series), but is the most 'whodunnit' story featuring the FMC. So there is the mystery for the reader to engage in, as well as the most certainly not respectable side of the FMC, and most of the other main characters, as well as some side characters.

Motivation: This is a historical piece, set in an anachronistic Anglo/American/European milieu of about 1905, and I wanted to try to set the action in an usual place.

Why is it your best story: This isn't my best story, but I was rather disappointed that it didn't get anywhere near the same number of eyeballs on it as the two previous stories. I think it deserves a second chance for a bit of life.

Anything else we should know about it: I was very disappointed to be unable to fit a filthy scene in for the character who is, perhaps, the most competent of them all, an Irish redhead called Roxanne. So, if you are reading this hoping she will disrobe, I'd rather let you know before you begin that she won't (though I have half an idea for a standalone story for her, in which she will seduce half the diplomatic service).

I'll add a second:

Family Fornication Contest

Category: Incest/Taboo (Now Taboo/Incest)

Year published: 2023

Words: 17,280

Basic premise: Brother and sister produce a video entry for a Valentines Day contest

Themes: Sibling love and support

Motivation: Written for the Valentines Day contest, I decided to expand into the I/T category for the first time.

Why is it your best story: It attracted hundreds of followers to me and increased the views on all my other stories

Anything else we should know about it: The number of requests for a sequel surprised me.

Good Day, Iowa!

Category: Mature

Year published:
2024

Words:
29.9K

Basic premise:
Unlikely pairing of a widower and the much younger local TV show host he watches at noon every day.

Themes: Two main themes - 1) True love does not have to hold to normal societal bounds; 2) It is possible to find a 'once in a lifetime' love more than once.

Motivation: While I believe it's much more likely in these times for persons with a significant age difference to hook up than when I was younger, I still think it's a challenge to make such a coupling 'plausible.' I think it helps if you craft the two main characters to be liked by the reader to the point that they root for the two to be successful. My first two mature stories have featured an older man and younger woman, but I've started my next one where that will be reversed.

Why is it your best story: Honestly, I was surprised it was received so well by the readers. More than anything else I've written, I got lots of comments about how this was so personal to them and they shared bits of their own experiences with me, including one person who wrote, "Tears and more tears. My wife is slowly dieing(sp) of dementia. This story is so beautifully told. Thank you for telling it." When I began submitting stories, I never realized my words could affect someone like that.

Anything else we should know about it: There's a little bit of my 'real life experience' in this one, but that's all I've got to say about that!"

Title: Vivian Laaning Ch. 36 (Lit short description: Vivian meets Jed Baxter a handsome billionaire) https://www.literotica.com/s/vivian-laaning-ch-36

Corategy: Novels and Novellas

Date published: 02/04/19

Words: 5.4 K

Basic premise or plot:
Vivian, the title character is an undergrad student at the University of Wisconsin. And Jed Baxter is a billionaire, the richest man in Chicago, and for all outright purposes a happily married man. They are seated together at the rehearsal dinner for a high society wedding occurring in Hartford, Connecticut. Vivian is the bride’s maid of honor and Jed is the first cousin of the bride, and he is to give the bride away at the wedding ceremony in lieu of her deceased father. That is why they are seated together as all the other diners are naturally paired off. Pursuant to some witty dialogue between them plus Vivian being emboldened to perform a brazen surreptitious hand job under the table, they come to an agreement for a one night stand the following night after the wedding reception. The next chapter in the novel provides a description of their subsequent one night stand.

Themes: Vivian is a farmer’s daughter and consequently is very well aware that she is way out of her league compared to his status in society. Not only is Baxter the most prominent man in Chicago but he is a celebrity businessman comparable in status to the likes of Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates. Besides that, Baxter was more than twenty years her senior so in her mind she realizes that absolutely definitely nothing could possibly come of her fortuitous encounter with such a distinguished man. Therefore, she was determined not to make a fool of herself in the relatively short time she was to be in his company. But with such an attitude, it paradoxically allowed her to display herself in her best light possible without fear. In other words, she had nothing to lose.

As for Jed, he was indeed married and his marriage was considered actually solid, not only by himself but by all of their intimate friends. However, his wife was for understandable reasons, was frigid; did not enjoy sex at all. As a result, she had explicitly advised Jed that she could tolerate adultery on his part so long as it did not jeopardize their marriage. In this situation, his wife had declined to attend this wedding, and so he was free to hook up with a nubile young woman such as our heroine.

Once they had mutually agreed to a one night rendezvous there was an issue in that the bride had reserved a separate room for Vivian for that night which expense the bride was prepared to absorb. Vivian was of a mind to cancel the reservation as she could simply move into Jed’s room that night and thereby save the bride the extra unnecessary expense. Jed balked at that plan, suggesting that the bride’s family was certainly wealthy enough that such an expense would be trivial. His rationale was that he would like to be discreet in his adultery. But Vivian’s point of view was that she abhorred unnecessary expense and beside the bride was privy to Jed’s predilection to adultery. As a result, Jed acquiesced without further protest.

Motivation:

When I was in college, I took an English literature course which comprised of a study of twelve novels. One of them was “Tess of the D’Urbervilles” by Thomas Hardy published in 1891. One scene in the novel caught my lifelong attention. In it, the title character was seduced/raped while she was milking a cow. Her seducer was mesmerized by the sight of her engaged in her chore. Especially provocative was the fact she placed the side of her face against the cow’s flank as opposed to the more common practice of placing one’s forehead against the cow. Bear in mind that this novel was published during the prudish Victorian times which precluded graphic descriptions of sexual activity. And yet despite such restrictions, to my mind that passage by Hardy was one of them most imaginative erotic scene I had ever read in a work of fiction.

So that was my inspiration for a novel to replicate Hardy’s scene by utilizing the freedom of employing explicit sexual descriptions. Since Wisconsin is the state most noted for its dairy industry that became my chosen locale for my novel. In modern times cows are milked by machines, so I was forced to come up with a plausible reason why my heroine was hand milking a cow. I trust I succeeded in that endeavor.

Why is it your best story: My novel as a whole is a good story and this particular chapter exemplifies to my mind a most plausible scenario to what otherwise would be a totally unexpected outcome for my title character.

Anything else we should know about it
: My novel “Vivian Laaning” was a 63 chapter effort as published in Literotica, and I subsequently contributed three sequel novels thereafter as well. Indeed, that first encounter between Vivian and Jed did result in merely a one night stand. However, later on in the novel we find that Vivian did graduate from the University of Wisconsin, and entered the law school at the University of Chicago. As a result, she eventually became a lawyer, and found employment with a prestige law firm in Chicago. In that circumstance she meets Jed again at a charitable fund raiser. This time their meeting leads to a very consequential three year affair.

That affair ended as Vivian learns that Jed has undergone a vasectomy and that was a deal breaker for her. However, in a subsequent novel Vivian again meets Jed six years later and their affair is now renewed but on a limited basis since she now lives in Europe and he is still in Chicago. They eventually do marry after Jed’s wife and Vivian’s significant other die; Vivian is in her early fifties while Jed is a septuagenarian.

In my novels some of my scenes are inspired or are actual accounts that have occurred in reality. For example, in chapter 42 of Vivian Laaning I was able to weave in a personal memory of a remarkable play Wayne Gretzky made in a hockey game I witnessed live in the Edmonton arena. To my mind that passing play was so remarkable which justifies his appellation as “the great one.”

Adding another one, just 'cause.

The Good Neighbor

Category: Romance

Year published:

Basic premise:
May-December between an older woman and younger man

Themes: I wanted to do something that was more romantic and less of a stroker

Motivation: I was trying to stretch my creativity a bit. The Valentines Day 2025 contest gave me the perfect "excuse".

Why is it your best story: It's far more about the relationship than the sex

Anything else we should know about it: I feel it's the second best thing I've written for the site.

I’m working on it, EM, but each time I fill out half the questions, I circle back to another story…’No, wait, that one’s better’ and I have to start all over again.

A Ruckus in River's Bend

Category: Fantasy/Sci-fi

Year published:
2024 and the again in 2025

Words:
14,800

Basic premise:
A stranger comes to a small town and changes lives. Very pebble-in-a-pond.

Themes: Fantasy fiction in a very Edgar Rice Burroughs way.

Motivation: The original version was set in the town of Riverwood, in the gaming world of Skyrim. The town is the first you come to in the game and it's cast is diverse and unique, but limited. Perfect for an ensemble story. When I was playing the game I would often wonder about their lives in the little town, and what secrets there could be beyond what the player experiences. So I decided to write my own.

The second version is the un-Skyrim-ed version, so I could move it out of the fan fiction category.

Why is it your best story: Skyrim is a hugely popular game and millions have played it, especially those who peruse the fantasy category. Because of that, the characters and setting were very fixed in my mind and the writing of it came easy. Any reader familiar with the game and the location, will see it clearly in their mind. I feel that familiarity, lets the reader get deeper into the story and enjoy it more, something fan fiction generally benefits from.
Also, I think the story just flows well. There's time to get to know the characters, understand the troubles within the town and the MMC's reactions to it all. And, unlike a lot of my stories, the sex is worked into the story well, rather than the focus of the story.

Anything else we should know about it: The second (current) version has a very Norse feel to it, which Skyrim also does by design.

I’m working on it, EM, but each time I fill out half the questions, I circle back to another story…’No, wait, that one’s better’ and I have to start all over again.

Wanna know a secret?

The one I picked is NOT by "best story." I've got several "best stories." The one I picked got posted because it was the one where I could most easily answer Em's "theme" question.

Go for it!

Year published: 2025

4 Lit pages

Basic premise:
suburban MILF hosts a costume party where her neighbors-think-she’s-an-au-pair lesbian slave is dressed as a genie and has to do whatever her lamp holder asks

Themes: submission and dominance and love and trust

Motivation: @genzsub and I had the idea of some people at a party figuring out that the sub would do whatever she was asked but not always what was meant, and it seemed cute and funny and sexy

Why is it your best story: I think it has the best balance between sexy and dramatic and gets emotionally meaningful while still being fun

Anything else we should know about it: @genzsub and I wrote it as an exquisite corpse/literary improv, trading back and forth as we wrote with no going back other than to correct typos and grammar so it’s alive but unpolished.

Cat: Group sex

Year: 2024

Words: 41 k, 11 Lit pages

Basic Premise: Woman in loveless, sexless marriage gets in touch with 2 old college friends. Religion plays a part in this. It is a character arc with lots of sex.

Themes: self discovery, awakening, self truth.

Motivation: started as something else, grew melancholy. Realized the themes were bigger than my intention, ran with it. Went where the character took me.

Best story: Not sure it is, but it is one of my favorites. The lead is vulnerable, I like that. I think her emotions and the friendship with the other 2 women is well grounded, even if the group sex scenes are not, they flow well with the story. The opening 2 pages of intro I think are fantastic. I know it's long but I feel the characters arc moves and stays interesting, and with sex throughout there's enough to keep a reader interested. I think it deserved more reads than it received, but happy with the rating it has. I'm still impressed with what I accomplished even if the religion theme (minor) may throw people off.

A Stopover, A Revelation

https://www.literotica.com/s/a-stopover-a-revelation

Category: sapphic sex/domination

Year published: 2025

Words: 'proximately 2,200. A quick read.

Basic premise: Two people who were vanilla in undergraduate go their seperate ways. M eventually goes into sex work in another country, the mousey j stays in the USA, eventually coming out. Realizing a budding interest in D/s, j reaches out to her old contact. M eventually coaxes her into coming over and experiencing an hour or so of sexual contact with an actual sub.

Themes: a potential sub gets satisfaction while experiencing an actual sub, under careful watch.

Motivation: Years have passed and j is now my occasional sub. I encouraged her to write it.

Why is it [her] best story: It's her only story. But others seem to like it.

Anything else we should know about it: Two things: First, the story is true. Second, j is over three hundred pages into a lesbian bdsm novel. It's ballooned into quite a saga, actually. Maybe she'll finish it this year and post it here if she gets enough encouragement. (Needless to say, she lives in another city; if she lived with me, I could get for that encouragement.)
